Right on, Justin. Mr. Spencer's comments only do more harm to his cause because they are rooted not only in emotion, but emotional ignorance.
To compare hunting with dogfighting is reprehensible and insulting to the millions of hunters who enjoy the sport legally and who by and large, do more for the environment and animal welfare than anyone of Mr. Spencer's ilk.
Mr. Spencer would be better served in forming an informed opinion, rather than parroting the lines resulting from his PETA brainwashing.

Hunters may have a few things going for them. They kill deer before they starve to death in the winter. That said, there are far to many hunting accidents, people shooting people. The problem is that they'll give any idiot a hunting license. Even the vice president shot his hunting companion. it's ridiculous.

Personally, I couldn't shoot a deer, I think they are beautiful creatures and I wouldn't eat the meat anyway.

Just to educate. In this state in order to obtain a hunting license, you must first complete a hunter safety course. Second with firearm laws in Massachusetts in order to obtain either FID card or license to carry a weapon you must complete an firearms safety course as well. Accidents happen and alot of times they could be avoided. It's easier to get a driving license, with that said, accidents happen reguardless.

accidents in hunting are statistically rare-kind of like death at a high school football match. because its hunting and because this country is soft when it comes to anything involving guns, the press is more negative by default.

Just to educate. The worst kind of hunter is a bow hunter. Stop and think about it. An animals first instinct is to survive. Along comes Robin Hood with his compound bow and he fires an arrow into the body of a deer that wasn't hurting him in any way. That arrow plunged through the deer's hide and hit or missed a vital organ. The deer is bleeding but it runs and is never found. That same night the coyote's smell the blood and tear this beautiful animal apart and eat it alive. You're right, I don't see anything wrong with this picture. If you can't afford to buy meat at the supermarket then just go kill something.

Wondering, its clear you have an anti-hunting agenda. As its legal and a respected sport, you have only one choice - don't eat meat. Even if you buy your meat at a store or restaraunt, you are a hypocrite.

We can agree to disagree. It's only respected by hunters. Buying meat in a supermarket may cause suffering to animals and that has been documented. Going into the woods with a bow or a gun yourself elevates killing to a whole different level. If you get off on tearing apart the bodies and organs of living things then you should get a job at a slaughter house.

You have obviously not taken the test, nor have you read about the fines that WE have to pay... Read more about it before you comment on something you know NOTHING about.

I had comprehensive training to obtain my Class A LTC.

I'm glad Mr. McDaniel took the time to pen this very well-written rebuttal to what was a garishly uninformed, emotional diatribe by Mr. Spencer.

I was “Wondering” a few years ago if I should visit the local “Whole Foods Store” to purchase the low fat high protein meat that nutritionists recommend for healthy living. After all, it has been many years since I had to put cardboard inside the innersoles of my shoes. As a member of the working poor, who had to work two jobs to support a family, putting cardboard inside the innersoles of your shoes was necessary until the family budget could afford a new pair. In addition, harvested wildlife such as, squirrel, pheasant, and venison was a part of the food budget. It was great when I moved up in society from the working poor to the Missing Class. When I needed new shoes, I could charge them with the credit card that I received from a local bank. The bank gave me credit because I worked one job with lots of overtime. After the harvested wildlife was existed from the freezer, I still had to purchase the cheaper cut of meat at the supermarkets that society uses for the masses. Today, I can well afford the pay the ridiculous high prices of meat at the organic food stores because I am out of the Missing Class and the Working Poor economic standing. However, I travel to a Massachusetts Wildlife Management area to harvest deer, squirrel, and turkey for a supply of “Whole Food.” Hunting wildlife is the only way to obtain true high protein low fat Whole Food with no man made substances inserted into the animal. In any event, people, such as “Wondering” who push a social cause that has a negative effect on lower levels of society smacks of social elitism.

I don't hunt and that's true, but I do know something about it. Hide in a bush or a tree. Wait for deer or other animal to walk by, shoot an arrow or a deer slug into it, hope it drops and doesn't run away. I have friends that like to hunt, I don't try to talk them out of it, if they enjoy it that's fine with me. Hunting just isn't a sport for me, I'm not big on killing things. Used to love fishing, always released the fish.

How many of you anit-hunters eat meat and wear leather products? Do you know how those animals are put to death? They are hung from their hind legs and their throats are cut and they bleed to death. You anti-hunters contribute to the death of innocent animals.

And anyone who says those animals raised specifically for food, well I think that is a bunch of crap. What you are saying is that live stock animal’s lives are less valuable than trophy game?

Oh fishing is okay,,, lets use your logic and I’ll be dramatic and over emotional.

Hiding in boat and waiting to trick a beautiful animal into putting a sharp rust hook in its mouth and dragging it into an environment where it can’t breath is okay. And I hope the fish doesn’t that swallow the hook and die, because you ripped out the organs trying to remove the hook.

If you get off on hurting fish then you should get a job at fish market.

Hey, if they give "any idiot" a hunting license, what are the people that they give drivers license too? Everyday 150+ people die on US roads, but there is never any talk of restricting or banning driving. Dont be a moron, as they say, accidents happen. They are equally serious, but accidents none the less.

Any fisherman knows tha if a hook is swallowed you cut the line. The hook will rot and the fish will live without suffering. You shouldn't be hunting or fishing because you should have an IQ of at least 50 to get a license for either.

Driving = hunting. See my other post about IQ requirements. I can't believe you have a gun.
