The headline made it sound like it just happened when in fact it was over a year ago! It looks like the wheels of justice in PC run slower than in other places.

So, you gotta wonder a few things when reading this story; it's too bad the reporter didn't ask more questions, like:
--Why wasn't the arrest revealed before the Olympics?
--Why does it take 7 months to file a charge and another 8 to get to court?
Why do officials brag about "no special treatment" when both these scenarios, especially the first, scream "special treatment"?

This is exactly the type of arrest our former candidate Dax would have stopped. This guy won a gold medal for the US...why should he be arrested for a minor offense? Let him go- He's basically above the law, and its a shame that he has been harassed like this. He does a very important job like riding a sled, and now he has to worry about stuff like this?

Well, at least he didn't lead them on a high speed chase like Nobis!

I believe the District Attorney has up to two (2) years to offically file charges against someone. But still, he did receive special treatment - bet if someone looked into this deeper they would find out that the DA 'elected' not to bring charges until later. Normally, charges are filed within a week after someone been charged with DUI or at least after their DMV hearing.

All Olympic athletes were told to be sure they did not get a DUI before the Olympics. Canada would not allow any athletes across the border with a recent DUI on their record. I'm sure that's why it wasn't brought up until now.

Joe, just because it's not a story about a LA gang shooting or Lindsay Lohan, doesn't mean it's not news. And it's definitely news for this small town

Tablemesa is correct. If Steve had gone through the system like the rest of us he would have been given a court date around the time the games started or just before and probobly convicted. Canada has a law in place forbidding entry into their country anyone with a DUI conviction for 5 years time. After that time you must obtain some sort of waiver from their government. Wonder how George W. and Cheney were ever allowed to the Great North with three DUI's convictions between the both of them...Hmmmm? I also wonder why this story was plastered all over creation a year after the deed was done. Let him have his day in court and loose his freedoms quietly. I never understood why Goverment, M.A.D.D. and the press enjoy putting this type of story out there, other than to get their jollies off knowing that persons life is going to be ruined. I wish they would publish all the police officers and Government officials that are pulled over for DUI's and most let go scott free as is regularly done, especially in the state of Colorado. In the City of Aurora , Co. a suburb of Denver, there is a cop named Marc Sears who was convicted for a DUI in 2009 involving a wreck on his motorcycle while he was drunk. Was he fired? Of course not... he was given a teaching position at the Police Academy. Less than a year later in 2010, he rolled over his SUV hitting a light post, drunk again. Maybe they'll make him Mayor for that last one. These are the people who should really know better than to drink and drive and nothing is ever done about it and kept hush -hush. Look it up yourself on Google, as well as District Attorney John Newsome of Colorado Springs. In 2008, He liked to drink and drive while at work, driving state vehicles and was video taped by the local KOAA News station doing so (over a twelve pack of beer in two and a half hours). He was never charge and he only issued an apology, while keeping his job convicting the general public of the same behavior he enjoyed partaking in. Lastly, look up former Colorado Springs Mayor, Mary Lou Makepeace's stop in December of 2008 with a four year old in her car after a christmas party. No charge there either... Now isn't that lovely. Good luck Holcomb. I won't judge you, just be smarter next time. At least they can't take away you Gold medal...but if they could, they would!
