Here's hoping "The Arch City Army" grows well-beyond section 227 -- and eventually encompasses everything inside of section I-270.

Columbus is a great sports town and there is no better evidence for this than a September Saturday outside the Varsity Club. Thousands of crazed Buckeye fans partying, and getting pumped-up.-But then something happens to the revelers once they leave the environs outside Ohio Stadium and head inside. On some Saturday's (not all) you might as well put a sign outside the entry gates: "Check your emotion at the door." Ditto for Nationwide Arena.

We spend a lot of money on jerseys, tickets, parking, food, and the time it takes out of one's life to attend a sporting event. So it makes no sense to arrive inside Nationwide Arena -- and then sit on your hands.

Without question, winning helps transform things. Winning is like an I.V. into the vein.-But there's no rule that say's this you have to wait for the home team to start winning regularly before you can go crazy - regularly.

It's OK to take off your "Vest" and put on a straight-jacket once in a while.

there was those few years, where this Nationwide Arena was one of the two loudest arenas in the league, back when the CBJ team was in its second and third seasons. All the losing every year drove the loud fans back to their television sets, or drove them from hockey, instead of being inside Nationwide. Some of us loud fans wish this had started seven or eight years ago. A little late is better than never

To John in Worthington:

The reason the Shoe goes cold many times is all the old geezers who get upset if your try to stand & cheer. Because they graduated sometime in the mid 20th century....they forgot what it was like to be excited. If you try to show any passion they just yell at you to sit down and shut up or else they'll have the ushers boot you out.

I'm not a soccer fan at all and attend a couple of games a year for the Jackets, but this certainly sounds like something fun. I mean if it can fire the fans and arena up....then maybe it will fire up the team. Next game I go I'll try to shoot for section 227

GO ARCH CITY ARMY !!!!!!!!!!

I don't give much/any respect to any group that yells, chants or does anything except sit quietly or sings along with the National Anthem.
So good luck, hope the group succeeds but hope they undersand they're not from Chicago so when Leo starts singing shut up.

Could it be the major buzz wearing off after pounding a few beers at the VC? I think so. I have gotten a buzz on only to be a walking zombie at the end of the first quarter, craving for something other than a hot dog and a Coke.

Great idea, just watch the language and be respectful of the folks around you. It is easier to turn off a fan in sports than it is to gain a fan. The last thing the Jackets need is more pissed off ticket holders.

CBJHACK,

Er uh, I can't help you with that particular problem(s). Chances are if you've pounded too many beers before "any" sort of event, you're gonna wind up being a "walking zombie" at some point.

For the most part The Shoe gets loud albeit it does get quiet somewhere around 21-0 against the likes of say, Marshall or Akron. The big games against Michigan, Iowa, Wisconsin, or a nationally-ranked non-conference opponent can get real loud early and often.

On a side note (somewhat related)-- my biggest complaint about the new Cleveland Browns stadium is that it tried to 'manufacture' a "Dawg Pound" shortly after it opened. It even painted a huge mural at that end of the field: DAWG POUND (just in case you weren't sure). The Dawg Pound at the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium took years to nurture, build, and finally develop a life of its own - and a reputation that lives to this day. I was in that old stadium countless times when if it weren't for the 'Pound, the entire stadium would be sitting on its hands.

I can remember having left the 'Pound without any vocal chords left - or my sanity. Good times.

Not a fan of the Arch City Army.

This is a group making noise during the National Anthem. Totally out of line and inappropriate.

Keep the trash from Crew Stadium away from Nationwide.

we sing the national anthem....not make noise. but hey nice try there chief. i dont see anything wrong with singing the song of your country loud and proud for the the people at home to hear. and you need the "thrash" from crew stadium. nationwide is full of retirees who do nothing but waste their time sitting in the lower bowl when they should be cheering for the boys on the ice busting it so they can actually attend games.

Even though the article goes back and forth between calling them "Arch City Army" and "Arch Street Army" so the actual name is uncertain, I looked it up on Facebook and it is Arch City Army. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Arch-City-Army/...

Another reason why news sources like Facebook are helping folks turn away from sloppy newspaper reporting, like that from The Dispatch.

It's nice to have a Red Wings fan check in.

Isn't Detroit and safe and lovely city? Enjoy the tax dollars we have all sent to keep Chrysler and Government Motors from going bankrupt, and stop trolling our thread.

Ah, a Black Hawks fan as well.

Thanks for sending your former Junior Senator to the White House. Things have certainly changed since then!

Will the group still follow this crummy, dead beat team after it relocates to Kansas City or Hamilton, Ontario?

I hope the blue jackets leave town. Its very boring to me and I really hate that it interferes with Buckeye talk from time to time.

Guy-
Here's a clue for you. The Chicago Blackhawk fans cheer during the entire national anthem. So with that knowledge go back and re-read what I wrote and your response.
Guess a little hockey knowledge never hurts when you post about the Blue Jackets.

And also I'm also one of th emost conservative folks on this board and was not born in Chicago, so your reading/comprehnsion ability makes me laugh.

I think this group should pay 100% of the Nationwide Arena rent, including the past due rent. This is a better solution than tax payer subsidies.

Leo Welsh does a great job singing the National Anthems (American and Canadian). The trash from the Arch City Army needs to learn that Leo Welsh does the singing of the National Anthems.
