Mao wasn't even close to getting near Yuna's score in the Olympics, nor does it look like she'll ever get to that level. Consider the fact that Yuna had a terrible SP and not that great of a FS either. If she had been on, Yuna would have have won this.
These championships are held every year, which means it's not that prestigious. The Olympics is what it's all about, once every 4 years. Yuna captured the gold in that, and blew away Mao by a whopping 20 points. She now stands among the best in history.
The gold in the Olympics is the real goal of a figure skater. Take for example, Michelle Kwan. She's a great skater and has won many of championships...but she never won the gold in the Olympics. Those who go down in history as the best have an Olympic gold medal in their record.
Just goes to show who's really the superior skater as of late. Nuff said.

In my opinion, Mao is the best skater now and Yu-na was because Yu-na'd lost her emo after grabbing the unbeatable highest score in Canada. Though Mao might not stamp Yu-na's score she will be the legend, too or maybe she's already the queen of the ice. Anyway, both Asian girls are different level. The person who can acquire Yu-na's high-speed clean and effortless style plus Mao's supreme skating skill and emotional expression is gonna be the next queen. It can't be in 10 years, actually. Who can be? So next Olympic queen will be which of them, I guess Mao.

I think mao's performance was alot more inspiring, and much much more diffecult, the only reason yuna score have been enourmesly high the last couple of seasons is because this new systems favors skaters like yuna kim, and her skate at the world was soo poor, I still don't get how she got the silver I personnaly think mao performance was much much better. yuna looked like she didn't even want to be there, it was acrually really funny when I saw her high score which I think was way overrated considering her poor performance.
evenso mao didn't win the olympics this time there will be another olympics, but evenso the skaters who are remembered are often the world champions I mean the olympics only come every 4 years, and give you fame you that one specific year.

consider the fact that yuna has been doing the same jumping passes since her senior debut.she keeps on doing the same thing so i'm not really surprised at her getting a 17.4 GOE. mao on the other hand keeps on challenging herself...she hasn't peaked yet in terms of scores. if mao can get a silver in vancouver even when she's not in her perfect form, just think of what she's capable of doing otherwise. mind you, i don't skate. i've never seen or touched a pair of skates in this lifetime, nor have i ever been on a skating rink before. still, mao's attitude of never giving up and of trying things that other female skaters don't--these make me want to cheer for her even more. go mao!!!

anyone else besides the judges believe in these 150 points'??
yu na is really overrated and helped by the judges . they consider the elements in wich yu na is great
but dont consider where she has medium quality such as spins like biellman, donuts, or sit besides the lack of flexibility that make her look uncomplete

Mao is better than Yuna and everrybody knows that. Yuna is Hot and everrybody knows that too.I think figure skating is still very subjective, so many other athletes or people don´t take too seriously. Mao proved more capable and many more skills and abilities that Yuna and the other skaters....Mao beat Yuna beat Kim is so many things and so many ways and she will continue =)

michelle depress me, kisses yuna´s feet making it her even more pathetic.
Yuna's only record is her score (power money)
Yuna is not the best ever, none of his colleagues arespect her. admire his fame and who doesen´t? but I dislike her arrogance, she loos to me like a hungry tiger.
of the best ever was voted by common fans lifeless, so do not come and tell ridiculeses. Plushenko is the best ever and Mao Asada too

Mao is a fighter , she keeps trying things that no one else dares to
that is why people take her seriously because she takes figure skating her lifetime business

Yuna picks better and more up to date music which appeals to broader audience-007, Le Miserable. Yuna also does better various exaggerated facial expression which is important for people and judge to see. Mao's good but she has bigger head which makes the body proportionality off a bit so the same move doesn't look as nice and graceful as Yuna.

Mao definitely is a fighter and definition of what a hard work can accomplish where as Yuna, also a hard worker, has said she was born with a good physique for figure skating, which probably give her bit of edge. I was disappointed when she announced her retirement after 2010 winter olympic. Actually made her seem not as determined and just cared for fame and forture which she definitely received from all the ad money. I do understand that in Korea the coach'll beat you, yell at you, and berate you (at least when you're starting off) and I'm sure that was the case when she was younger but quitting that young when you've cashed in just shows it wasn't really for love of the sports. But I'm glad she came back which kinda shows that maybe she does love the sports and hope she continues to do it at least til end of her 20's.

Where as Asada Mao is famous and rich from her ad money too but she keeps on trying and continues to compete which shows that she's got heart and loves the sports.

Still...cleaner performance with better body proportionality and better music makes Yuna's performance look that much better and pleasing to watch. It's just a fact and you can't change it.

It's weird since when I see Yuna off ice on commercials or news conference, she looks just average, but put a pair of skates on her...she's a hottie.

As a man I'll just end with a comparison...lap dance performed by a really hot girl or just average looking girl with a big head...or since more females, bachelorette party with He-Man looking beef cake or just a normal average joe.

This site must be predominantly used by Japs. There's no one in professional skating that thinks Mao is better than kim. Please stop this non sense! Mao will never ever be at the same level as Kim.

After watching short program of Sochi Olympic 2014, Yuna simply beats Mao in every way. Not only Mao fell during her jumps, she performed very poorly that got her to 16th place. Yuna with very small lead in first place was just phenomenal. I thought Yuna deserved at least 78 points since this was a better performance than 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
