Letter: Remember Jerry Brown's record

There are 40 comments on the Chico Enterprise-Record story from Oct 8, 2010, titled Letter: Remember Jerry Brown's record. In it, Chico Enterprise-Record reports that:

I am in a quandary. Is the Jerry Brown running for governor our current state attorney general? The supposed supporter of our laws? The one who as a personal item took our gay marriage law to the state Supreme Court to have it thrown out? The one who says he will stand by his record? I don't know about Oakland, but his record as governor of this ...

Show me a lower or middle income person who votes Republican and I will show you a fool.

This is what the Republican Party stands for.

Making women who are raped bear the child of their rapist or their relative through incest.

The elimination of unemployment benefits is you lose your job.

The reduction or outright elimination of the minimum wage.

Raising the retirement age and the reduction of Social Security Benefits.

The Privatization of Social Security, Medicare and of the Veterans Administration.

War with Iran.

Pollution of our air and water without accountability for the polluters.

The elimination of workers rights, salary reductions and American jobs being shipped overseas with taxpayer subsidies.

Free reign for financial predators.

More people in prison and less personal freedom.

Less money for schools and infrastructure.

More money for the military industrial complex at the expense of everyone else.

Foreign control of government and the media.

Corrupted elections from unlimited anonymous multi-million dollar Ad blitzes with commingled funding from corporate and foreign sources.

Deception and dishonesty at all levels of power.

Jefferson would be sickened if he saw today's Republican Party. They are what he and the rest of the founding fathers stood against.

Never ever vote Republican.
Jerry Brown gets my vote. Make sure he gets yours.

It is refreshing to know there are folks out there that remember the real Jerry Brown.Don't forget as governor he gave us Rose Bird,CARB as we know it today and of corse,Mary Nichols, the most extreme member of the environmental movement to run CARB.Another one of his landmark moves was to rob all the OHV funds that thousands of off roaders paid into, and built bicycle trails.Remember people,Jerry Brown is the guy that started the de-developement of California!

He's not getting my vote.

And now that he outed Meg Whitmans illegal alien is he going to have her arrested for breaking our immigration laws and identity theft?

Hey Frank,

Maybe you didn't get the memo but Democrats have been running the state for 30 years.

You guys won - a long time ago.

So I must ask -

This state is running massive multi-billion deficits.

What part of the democrats have run out our money and chased off at least a third of the states tax base gets by you?

Why can't you at least have the decency to declare victory?

----

Yes, Vote Democrat Nov. 2

We only have one environment - you can always get another job.

Wow, like Buster said, the Dum-o-craps have been running California for 30 years....running it into the ground. I guess you feel welfare, illegal aliens, anchor babies, WIC, EBT, Medi-Cal, and any other system designed to take from the working class and give to the lazy. Driving small business and large industry from the state, thus driving away jobs. Guess what idiot, without jobs there will be no money to give the lazy, worthless deadweights, probably like yourself!

Thanks for the info. Brown definitely has my vote now. Gas was $5 a gallon a couple of years ago and I rode my bike everywhere. I'm glad the infrastructure was in place for me to be able to do that. If Republicans have their way we'll be living in 3rd world America with no infrastructure improvements. Luckily Democrats get elected often enough to actually fix this place up until Republicans get a chance to let it crumble again.

Is he going to arrest Whitman for hiring her? Because for me that is worse than the illegals coming here. They wouldn't come here if rich white people like Whitman didn't hire them. Start arresting all of the meat packing plant owners, the farmers and everyone else who hires illegals, then they won't be coming here anymore.

Hopefully, there are enough of us “old-timers” to remember what he did to this state. I too remember the bridges to nowhere and all the workers that were laid off because he stopped all road construction and repair. Living in San Jose I saw those massive unfinished freeway intersection hanging suspended in space every day. I remember also the Measure A tax we paid for years to pay for those road improvements taken and years later completed with higher inflationary dollars. Therefore, less work was done with less funds. Let’s all hope enough of us remember what it was like to have someone who has never held a job not paid for by tax dollars.

If one has read the facts Whitman didn't break the law.

In fact, here in California had she inquired further she would have placed herself in legal jeopardy for discrimination.

The ILLEGAL alien was hired through an employment agency were she presented a social security card and a drivers license.

Once vetted you can't "harass" people about their status because of their ethnicity.

And as far as the social security mismatch letter is concerned it is up to the bearer of the card to take care of that - not the employer.

I'm not a fan of Whitman but I am a fan of the truth - as opposed to people like you.

This woman was thrown under the bus by the Brown camp - she was sought out and used by them and the consequences to her were none of their concern. As the director of ICE said the other night on Fox if it hadn't been for this escapade they never would have been aware of her presence here.

I guess this demostrates the regard democrats really have for hispanics.

Considering how she has handled this issue and how she let Poizner knock the snot out of her, I am having some concerns.

yes, as a flooring installer, my husband was expected to pay tax on anything we had - say, a box of leftover floor tile, the last bit of special glue left in a bucket, whatever. We were supposed to figure out, how much for each tile, how much for a cup of glue? then tax ourselves for it. We stopped keeping crap like that - say hello to your Land Fill!

I'm tired of a government that uses me like a cash cow to pay their salaries. I've sat at meetings here in Chico, where they have looked up and down to find things they could attach a fee to, just to get the money, no service involved.

Well, Jim, if you lived in LA or the Bay Area, perhaps you'd rather ride the commuter trains instead of sitting still on the freeway for hours. In those regions, just relying on cars to move people is nuts. Millions use rail.

Second, the inventory tax was killed in 1979. Brown was governor until 1983. It was killed under his watch.

As for the gay marriage ban, it was and is unconstitutional.

If you Republic Party mongrels need to lie to win, then you fellas deserve to lose. And you will.

Great. If he stopped all that infrastructure improvement and construction it sounds like he was a Republican, since that is what they are doing now. Maybe you should vote for him after all.

Oh really?

Ever driven on a Nevada Highway?

How about Arizona?

We spend so much on welfare we can't even keep our highways paved let alone the streets of Chico.

Get a clue.

What Was Jerry Brown’s Response to Idea of Calling Meg Whitman a W----?

Jerry Brown calls a police union official. He leaves a message and attempts to hang up the phone. The attempt fails. Brown continues talking in the background unaware that the remarks are being captured by voice mail. If you got that call, you know you would be listening closely. And if the conversation involved the word “w---” being used to describe Brown’s opponent Meg Whitman — you would say “bingo.”

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/what-was-jerr...

Now did Whitman make a deal with public safety officials to protect pensions in exchange for endorsements?

If she did how is she plans to balance the state budget if she's declaring certain expenditures off limits before she's even elected.

Great choices we have here.

I guess you just read and listen selectively, lol. Do I understand that you are thanking Jerry Brown for the infrastructure that you enjoy today? You may thank his father, Edmund, if you like, because HE IS THE ONE that focused on highway building. When his son took over the office, the first thing he did, along with his highly publicized refusal to move into the governor's mansion, was to stop all building of California's infrastructure, and re-directed all building funds to his pet project high speed rail....How did that work out, by the way? Jerry is proving once again that he is the perfect career politician, promising all of the things that he denied and denounced during his two terms as governor....and guess what? Fools like you are buying into his hyperbole in large enough numbers that he will probably be racking up yet another state pension to add to his growing collection. If he is elected, then California deserves whatever happens from that point forward.... Oh, BTW, I am a Democrat, but I am one that happens to feel that if you are capable of working and choose not to, I couldn't care less if you starved to death!
