FTW wrote: Beatlesinthebog: Probably gonna take a trip there in a year or two to check things out, looking at 2013-2014 before I can do what I want. Have some contractual commitments to fufill, so that is my holdup as of right now. Once that is done, then I'll have some leeway on what, where and when I can do what I want. Gotta check on shipping stuff from the mainland US to NZ. Think it'll be $3000-5000 USD for a 40' shipping container from the US to NZ so I have to save for that amongst other things. Have to buy an auto and pay for six months rent while I am looking for work and a home to buy. Then if the NZ gov't won't let my children attend public school there (initially) then I'll need to enroll them in a private school and I'll need money for that as well. Need to win the California Lottery/lol. Better make that two state lotteries, curious. This is New Zealand - and if the Fed keeps printing cash like it is, who knows what the US dollar is going to be worth in 2014!

Gutsfull/Beatlesinthebog, I will have to work when I get there and ensure that I have plenty of $$$ to get there. I really hope the USD recovers, otherwise I'm screwed and will have to halt things until I get some serious bucks saved. Don't want to touch my retirement funds till I'm older. If or when I get to NZ, I want to enjoy my time there, not killing myself just to survive. That is why NZ is appealing, you know? Just wanna get away from the rat race and enjoy the latter years of my life.

It's probably about where it should be and normally I'd expect it will hover in the 50 to 60 cent range. But with what's going on in the States, it will pay to keep a close eye on it. He's also right about enjoying a good life here. If you're at least comfortable financially then NZ can be a great place to be.

That, and how to get rid of teenagers at the same time! I reckon a LOT of problems would be solved. Shit, it'll even help sort global overpopulation!
