Bypass no tourism jam

If there's one thing visitors to Taupo know they can rely on, it's traffic - and plenty of it - so imagine our surprise to find a deserted waterfront in the resort town at the start of this silly season.

We know Taupo is a beautiful place to stay and for you to enjoy everything we have to offer. Traffic wise, trucks made up the bulk of traffic going through so it is not surprising the Lakefront is a lot quieter.
Taupo is not a city! It is a piece of heaven here for
you to relax and savour the space ... shouldn't be any complaints should there?
I suspect the unseasonal rain earlier on kept many holiday makers away. Very hard for parents to entertain children when wet days keep the young ones inside.
