My family and I also came over 6 years ago " for a better life" from the UK.
We came over for 3 weeks holiday and travelled both the North and South Island, my husband being on the computer most nights in the UK organising job interviews before we left.
Having attending all interviews and returning back to the UK we then asked the children where they would like to live if we returned.
They said Hawke's Bay , yes at the time there was plenty of work for joiners " that is what he was " and we could take our pick as to where we went.
The job lasted
and my husband decided he didnt want the confinement of a factory , but the people that employed him were wonderful and we will be forever grateful for that start in NZ.
My husband has been in a couple of shop work jobs but each time decided " its not for him " so now we have set up our own business and so far , we work hard and we live the life we came over here for, we dont have much but we are " happy " and that means a lot .I wish the guy in the paper called John all the very best in his search for a job.
