It's a shame that you get on here and voice your opinion, but could you please learn to spell. The father of my childen are no concern to you, go back to school and learn to spell. Some people get on here saying the stupid shit. LEARN TO SPELL. Then get back at me. If you will notice I put my first and last name because I have nothing to hide. I just think it's a shame that this young girls and boys make mistakes and I think it gives them a reason to quit school. All mistaken..... I was a father at 19 and had a total of 6 children. I always put my children 1st among everything else. The reason why teen pregnancy is up. is right in front of us. As a parent its our duty to educate our children the horrors of life. Its like walking into a candy store u buy a candy u like but eat to much and become ill and other things .... the same with pregnancy among teenagers. We pass the buck by giving condoms in public high schools without stressing the ideals of education. I am 48 years old and I have 4 daughters and 2 sons. My daughters never had problems because as a father i dont sugar coat the truth. Now they are grown and understand how hard life can be. See not 1 person suffers but 2. So u instill the meaning of life and goals. Overall the parents should educate there children.

I agree; masturbation is a very good way for young women to satisfy themselves and not get pregnant with kids no one wants to support, including them.

But how much do you want to bet that many of these girls are from religious families that brainwashed them with the "masturbation is a sin" idiocy? I think it's a very safe bet that this is the case. My guess; these families probably hate other forms of contraception too. The families who rant against masturbation and contraception aren't any smarter than the girls who get pregnant.

So are you saying that because you became a father at 19 that everyone else should do the same thing? Why? Not everyone wants children or parenthood at such young ages, and I never wanted them at all. Luckily, I found a doctor who agreed to give me a tubal ligation, but they aren't easy to find. Some doctors with strong religious beliefs refuse to do tubals at all, and one even had the gall to tell me I was "interfering with god's work" by looking to have a tubal done. Idiot. I dumped him fast, but types like that aren't the only ones.

If parents want their girls to avoid teen motherhood, they should tell them to avoid boy/girl relationships until after they finish high school and vocational school/college. And tell them they refuse to help them raise kids if they get pregnant.

I think it has a lot to do with fathers treating thier daughters like sh!t so they look for love in all the wrong places. My wife and I were teen parents. And were ok now. But the majority of people end up all screwed up. 5 different baby daddys. You would think after two they'd discover thier way isn't working and get some help. Best if luck to you all. My best advice that I can give is keep your credit good at least get a high school diploma and know that you're worthy of a healthy loving relationship.

Its funny, those parents whose kids are the most likely ones to get pregnant, are the ones who didn't educate them about sex. Thay seem to figure that if their kids don't know about sex..they won't do it! Come on guys...kids are going to have sex! Once they realize how much fun it is...they're gonna do it. We did!

If anything, schools should be MORE involved with sex ed, just in case parents are still living in the stone age. I taught my kids early, both son and daughter, that yes, sex is fun, and it indeed feels good...BUT, just because their bodies are telling them they're ready, their brains aren't yet. If kids are given correct, pertinient information, they're more likely to make intelligent decisions.
Keeping them in the dark...preaching to them...is more likely to put them in a dangerous situation that they'll have no understanding of.

I'd rather have condoms handed out, than diapers! Becoming a pro-active parent is easier than reacting to a situation that could have been prevented.

Also, blaming only the girls for getting pregnant is incomprehensible! Where are the boys in this? We didn't do it by ourselves guys. Chances are, theose girls gor pregnant by older guys, who had no business being near them in the first place. Let's place the responsibility on both parties, shall we? Its pretty disgusting when there are 15 and 16 year olds having kids let alone more than one kid. There is onl one explanation. I doubt any of these women even tried to use protection. Having kid gets you set for life. Money from the state, Section 8 housing, food stamps, all paid for by the taxpayers. Most of them get so many handouts they don't have to work. NO wonder why they keep popping kids out. They get paid for them. And It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know, if you don't use a condom, or the pill, chances are, someone's getting pregnant.

I don't know what you guys think all these young girls are getting for "benefits", but as soon as the child is old enough for school...mommy has to go to school full time, or work, in order to keep those benefits. I don't think Mass. allows extra money for additional children either. Once you've had the first, you have to support the next on what you got before.

What you ALL seem to forget are the daddy's. Why aren't you condemning them for not keeping it in their pants? These girls didn't get pregnant by themselves, yet no one calls the boy onto the carpet for his involvement. Is HE working?Is HE paying child support?

What these girls need to know is that NO method is 100% effective...except abstinence. Yet, abstinence isn't likely to be anyone's method...so we need to arm them with information and make sure they are as prepared for making those decisions as they can be.

It's irresponsible for us, as parents, to expect them to avoid sexual contact because "we said so". We can raiswe them with as many morals as possible, and still accidents happen.(Do we know if there was a rape involved?) There are just too many variables to make blanket statements about the character (or lack thereof) of unwed mothers. It happens, in rich and poor families (rich ones just have access to more doctors to "handle" it).

All these girls are not "skanks" or "whores", just kids without the necessary info. so let's give it to them, shall we?
