I'm glad Chad Bosch & Jay Fiedler got mention...

A few others that could be there...NB's own Omar Palmer, Ian smart and Scooter Berry...

Also, Terance Shaw played for REAL awful teams for VS Central, but still was a stud. I would have LOVED to have seen what this kid could have done with Gwaltney's front line or EM's front line of the last two seasons. He would have been more dominant than he was...

Nobody has ever gotten more mileage from being mediocre (at best) as Boomer Esiason. More hype and all mouth than anything else...

I could name 20+ former players that could kick the crap out of all this so far names. There is no way to do this and if memory serves correct, what about all the great players from the world war two years. Oh, they are dead so we forgot them or never saw them. This has been fun to make fun.

Lyle Alzado should be on the list. What happened too many great football players from Lawrence on the list? BTW in 1977 Lawrence hands Lankford and Farmindale it's only L. I still hate green and white 40 years later. Funny, the new home in Cincinnati's HS colors are green and white. Go Figure!
ACTUALLY, Oceanside beat BOTH Lawrence and Farmingdale in 1977 on its way to the Nassau County Football Championship! I know, since I was a captain of that team.

Chad Bosh had a much better HIGH SCHOOL career then Gary Brown. Gary Brown ended up at Nassau before G Tech. John Elliot won a Super Bowl also, he was not even an all Long Island D lineman his senior year. I think he only made all league. High School is high school. NFL doesnt't count.

gwaltley come on.... maybe in the longest yard..........
Gwaltney i know what happed to him, coach terrie madden told him he dont have to work hard for his grades , just play football, he was lazy and North Babylon was getting a name i went to high school with terrie manning and he was always a shit head, fat and ugly with a big mouth who thought he was bigger than he was,i will say just cared about winning not the kids, his brother patrick was killed in a motorcycle accident who was also a unfriendly guy, players on the north babylon team took steroids and there was steroid rage where at least one young fellow had died, suicide, great kid mother loved him so much with an asshole father, this asshole didn't see it, i did, it was more obvious than barry bonds,
Back to Gwaltley, bottom line North Babylon high school passed him with a 4th grade education and he couldn't cut this in college, where it matters,

Al Pearman, Wally Perkins, Jim Lavelle, and more from the early years of Roosevelt teams in the 60's. They were the best teams ever period.

Mark Richter!!!
One of the best all around threats ever. Class of 1990! Richter was Floyd's starting Tailback/Free Safety/Punter/Kicker/Punt Returner/Kickoff Returner. He never stepped off the field. He was clocked at a 4.35 in the 40 yard. Stats weren't great because Floyd had a horrible offensive and defensive line back then, but everyone feared Richter. Best all around athlete IMO!

I have read about Jason Gwaltneys troubles at WVU. He was doing very well in his freshman year before he hurt his knee, and then his troubles started. He wasn't going to classes, or doing his rehab work. I never read that he only had a 4th grade education. Where is this info coming from?
And for the record, I saw him and his brother play a few times at NB. the only way one can say his stats were padded is because he was left in games when the team was way ahead. But the team was way ahead because both he (235 lbs) and his brother Scooter (280 lbs) were much bigger than their offensive line, or the other teams defensive lines. Then were men playing against boys.

Where is Ted Wegert today? I met him in the US navy in 1955. We were aboard the USS Mitscher DL-2.

Ted left the navy to play football for the Eagles.

I hope he is alive and well today and I would love to hear from him.

Ted I was the skinny kid from Kentucky!
