Wow, how clueless can you be? The blood was mixed, HIS BLOOD was there, not just arbitrary fragments of DNA. And what about the bloody palm print that the FBI analysts concluded was Robert's???
Sorry that you believe him after he has had 20 years to conjure up other stories, and maybe John should discuss his involvement, but they got it right the first time. Robert is guilty!

From NY Times:
Detective Birdsall, testifying in Nassau County Court, said blood was tested for specific genetic markers designed to pinpoint its source more specifically than tests that simply establish blood type. Tests on the small samples of blood that were not Kelly's showed them to be consistent with Robert Golub's blood, he said.
Further tests on some of the samples - others were too minute to be subjected to more than one test - showed that the blood consistent with Robert Golub's is found in just one of 1,000 people, he said.
Other People Ruled Out
The tests, he said, also ruled out virtually every other person known to have been in the Golub house from the time Kelly was seen entering it on the afternoon of March 3 until the police entered to search for her: Robert's parents, John and Elizabeth; his younger brother, John J.; and two of John J.'s friends, Stephen Bataan and Glen McMahon.
Detective Birdsall said there were five pieces of evidence showing blood consistent with Robert's: Kelly's leather jacket; a small tablecloth, found in one of the attache cases, that had apparently been used to wipe up blood; a white facial tissue found on the ground; and the tops of two of the three attache cases in which Kelly's belongings were stowed.
The leather jacket, the tablecloth and the tissue also had a great deal of Kelly's blood on them, the detective said. But he said that preliminary tests showed that the jacket and the tissue both contained smears of blood that had not come from Kelly.
When the blood samples were tested for specific markers they were found to contain the same markers as Mr. Golub's blood, Detective Birdsall said.
(More than one cut)
Robert Golub, according to earlier testimony, had small ***cuts*** on his right hand when he was first interviewed by police officers investigating the murder. But the cuts showed no evidence of bleeding.

If any of the posters here are interested, there is another forum here you may want to check out - the "Hell on Horton Road" thread here is worth reading through.
I think Robert Golub had some help in the form of his little brother, John Jay Golub. Witnesses (who were too young to testify at the time) saw JJ open the door to let Kelly in that day. Kelly's younger brother took a call from someone who identified himself as "John" and instructed him to get Kelly to the phone (telephone records proved that the call came from the Golub house) before Kelly walked down the street to the Golub house, 5 doors down from her own. Two other friends of JJ were there that day, too - Steve Bataan and Glenn McMahon. Both of them must have a great deal of knowledge about what went on that afternoon in 1989. Why have both been silent about this for over 22 years???
Robert's blood was mingled with Kelly's in the basement. He left a bloody partial palm print in the closet where Kelly's body was found too. He is in jail, most certainly where he belongs, and he'll hopefully stay there until he is dead. If he wants to claim his innocence, then let him speak out. Even though he chose not to testify at his trial, his blood testified for him. He may feel he has nothing to gain from speaking out, but he can certainly help the Tinyes family by coming forward and speaking truthfully about the events of that day. I have heard that he has found religion in jail. One would think his 'piety' might compel him to speak with the family and try to give them some closure.
That family had secrets - and Robert is still hiding them. I can only imagine that JJ had something powerful to hold over Robert's head...
The actual cause of death was strangulation. Someone who posted here seems to think that Robert is innocent of this crime. Does this poster believe that Robert is not guilty because he may not be the individual who actually choked the life out of Kelly? That is ridiculous. Anyone who participated in the actions that led to Kelly's death is guilty of her murder.
Whether Robert's cuts were bleeding or dry didn't sway the jury one way or the other. His blood was mingled with hers at the scene. JJ made the call and let Kelly into the house. It was not a very big house, either, and the people who were in it all know what happened. And those people have spoken with others over the years. And the truth is going to come out, in spite of the coverup that has stayed in place all these years.
And the guilty will be punished. ALL of them.
And yes, if I were one of the people in that house that afternoon, I'd want to talk before any of the others did. JJ, your day is coming...
JUSTICE FOR KELLY

Not according to a statement someone made on this forum in another thread. They stated they were with Robert Golub and Robert pointed out a prepubescent girl walking down the street and said that was his type. If Robert made a statement like that to one person, he's more than likely said that to others. Robert Golub was directly involved in this crime. The question is who else was involved.
According to an article in Newsday on Wednesday, Feb 21, 1990, John J Golub and his two friends were seen at Hewlett Elementary school one half hour after Kelly was seen entering the Golub home. There were several witnesses who verified this.
In the same article it mentions that a friend of Robert Golub, John Cantonese had also been there the day Kelly was seen entering into the house.
When the detective, who was questioning Golub asked John Cantonese about his being present at the Golub home on that day, John confirmed this but was also "interrupted" by Robert Golub. And yet John Cantonese was not further questioned.
The detective went on to state during testimony that Golub was "nervous" during the questioning and kept looking at his brother. Elizabeth Golub was also present during this time.
The article then states that Golub denied seeing Kelly at all. Less than an hour later when the house was searched Kelly's body was found in the basement.
