As I posted and blogged earlier this morning in www.riveravenuebues.com Spring Training kept getting worse and now outright embarrassing. Seems GM Brian Cashman had the audacity to contact BB Abbot regarding the availibilty of the happily retired Atlanta Brave Chipper Jones. My Brave sources tell me once Chipper and BB realized it wasnt hoax all they could do was shake their heads and assure the people of Atlanta that Chipper is a Brave for life. Desperation has settled in Yankeeland, do they really think someone with the class of Chipper Jones would come out of retirement to play for them when his own team is on the verge of big things ? Do they think Chipper would change his mind after turning down more money to play for the Yankees years ago to remain with Atlanta ? Do they really think New York baseball fans take them seriously ? This is obviously a desperation move to help lagging ticket sales 'we're trying hard fans' if you will. For the record, asking Chipper Jones to come out of retirement is alsmost as desperate as signing Derek Lee.

Hey Ben I just read your latest in the 'blues' great stuff. I know how much of a diehard juicekee fan you are so this must be pizzing you off and I agree it's a classless desperate move to even leak a great HOFers name like Chipper Jones out. Anyway you must be all excited about Cancer taking the field tomorrow, I wonder if his range can be any worse then it's been the last 7 years LOL. I also heard Mariano is sore as hell but I guess that's to be expected, how many 'days' are they having for him this year ? LOL. For the first time in 11 years I missed the Mets annual St Patricks bash at Duffys last night I got a few calls today that said theres alot of hurting puppies today, but it's great they do that every year and give the team a total day off the following day it brings them altogether. I'll be down soon I'll see you in Tampa or St Lucie your call.

Finally heard soemthing from Michael Kay that I agree with. He was discussing the fact that a team can have a really good season, yet the fans consider it a failure if they don't win the championship (the Knicks). Alan Hahn was his co-host and Kay finally admitted, this is all due to what he called "the Stienbrennerization" of sports. Back in the 70s when George took over the Yankees, he made the edict that the team had to win the World Series or the season was a failure. Kay explained that the genration of fans who grew up at that time period accepted this notion and now it has become the belief of fans that anything short of World Champions is failure. I finally agreed with Kay, but not one fan called in to talk about that. Then I realized that his calling audience are the 18-25 year olds that agree with that notion.

Sorry I havnt been posting in Topix but i've been busy in Tampa while reporting for the 'Blues'. News isnt good on Derek Jeter and it's worse then the Yankees are reporting. With ticket sales as low as they've been since the early 90's Yankee brass is minimizing the extent of Jeters damaged ankle, it's far worse then being reported. His availibility opening day is a longshot at best, at Dereks age don't bet on it. Read more of my blogs at www.Riveravenueblues.com

If Michael Kay's audience are the 18-25 year olds, they also must be of below average IQ. Talking about audiences, Boomer and Carton's core audience is probably 9 - 12 year old mentally challenged boys who get all excited when Carton says boobs. Boomer Esiason must be hard up for cash to lower himself to play Carton's side kick every day.

No I'm not. I'll take them over the Jets anytime. They've worked very hard.

And now, I think its time for Derek to retire from the team and find something new and wonderful to do.

He's done plenty for the Yankees, and I don't want him to permanently hurt himself as a reward.

He is a rare person and dedicated himself totally to the Yankees.

We just got word at the Blues, Derek Jeter is being placed on the Disabled List. As I reported a few weeks ago this should come as no surprise, what surprises this writer is why did they wait so long ? It was painfully obvious to all that Jeter is nowhere near ready to play, disregardiong his ankle he's still 12-15 pounds over-weight. I'll have more for you when I can post in the meantime go to www.riveraveblues.com for all this breaking news.

Ben where you at ? Tried your cell and home got NA....hope she's good looking LOL. Thanks for the Cancer update but as we talked about a week ago in Tampa it comes as no surprise i'm sure they'll blame the ankle for the reason he's 10-15 ILB over-weight they'd never give the public the truth. I know you cant stand the ignorance in the cesspool but when you get in should you read this you gotta go to that forum, the morons are in total denial about cancer on the DL, all except the Sox fan I was telling you about, he's the only one who mentioned it. Is it true they got Wells ? he'll fix everything maybe they figure if they got Wells juicekee fans wont read cancers on the DL LOL....give me a call when you see this

So Vernon Wells is a Yankee I hope in the desperation stage they're in someone had the thought to give him a physical. What bothers me about this move is it tells me the system dosent have a competent young body to man the OF for a month to a month and a half, and that's sad. The opening day lineup will consist of band-aids and cast-offs, unfortuneatley other teams yard sale players won't cut it in New York. Derek Jeter is going from bad to worse as he hobbled around the complex when he wasnt in a golf cart, New York Daily News writer and longtime Yankee beat writer Bill Maddon wrote it best when asked about Jeter 'Sad' was the word he used, saying he hopes he's like DiMaggio and knows when the time is up, for the great Joe it was one bad year for him and gone at 36, then again he wasnt making 15 million plus. Read more of my blogs in www.riveravenueblues.com and brace yourself for a very long year.

Go red sox. This has to be the most idiotic thread on topix. Yankee fans crying? Get a life, it's a game. You want to see baseball played at a real stadium, go to fenway. I hope Jeter keeps playing, the guy is and has been a cripple for years.

Great writings in the Blues Ben and thanks for the advance notice about Phat Phil to the Phat Farm. When are the juicekees going to get honest about Cancer and the severity of his ankle ? the guys finished but they keep denying it. I figure they could have rotating "days" for him and Rivera this year to try and sell some tickets LOL, I'll see Saturday

Are you crazy? I was just a sox fan last year? Where were you guys in 04 and 07? Most were hiding and crying over the worst choke in all of baseball history.

This has to be one of the most laughable threads of all time, crying yankee fans.

Oh, excuse me, most are crying yankee fans. One of the doobies posting in here is not a yank fan, so why he even bothers with crybabies is beyond me.

I stopped up to the Aqueduct press box this afternoon and ran into a good friend of yours. He was down in Tampa friday and saturday and says Cancer isnt even showing up to the facility, you hear anything about that ? Nice week for your Juicekees most people said it would be 1-5 winning 2 games is a success for them, with the exception of Houston they might have the worst lineup in baseball as for the pitching you were right again, horrible....as you told me way back in December it's gonna be a very very long year for them....you'll be right again
