McCartney cameo at Shea takes fans back to '60s shows

When Paul McCartney walked onstage toward the end of Billy Joel 's concert at Shea Stadium, Rosalia Rosen felt the exhilaration she had experienced at the 1966 Beatles show in the same venue.

Does anyone who went to the concert on Wednesday feel a little slighted? After all, that was supposed to be the LAST play and I bought tickets right away. Then, they open up a second night and that turns out to be better than the original! Seems a little unfair.

since there was a member of The Beatles and The Who there, because both had played Shea back in the day, come come Mick Jagger wasn't there, because The Rolling Stones also played Shea back in the day?

Also, did anyone else notice that out of all the special guests Billy had, not one was a female?

Christina Aguilera would have been perfect. She is from Staten Island and has a great voice. She could have done an awesome duet with Tony Bennett.

I attended the concert on Friday night and can honestly say it was one of, if not the BEST show I ever seen! Billy Joel is a truly gifted song writer and performer - Roger Daltry, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler, Tony Bennett, and Garth Brooks were an unbelievable bonus!! I feel lucky to have been able to attend.

Does anyone have any pictures or videos of Paul McCartney at Shea Stadium in 1966 with his arms stretched out and where he's giving thanks to the person the gum wrapper chain was from? I belong to an internet forum, and the daughter of the person who made the chain is on the forum looking for videos or pictures of this. Yeah, I was named after the Beatles song, my parents and I are all big fans! Yes, I was referring to the '66 Shea show. I clicked on the links you gave me, but unfortunately I think they both concern the '65 Shea show. It says 1966 at the top of each page, but that's referring to the release date of the film of the '65 show on television, and not the date of the '66 Shea show. The '66 Shea show was on August 23. Is all that too confusing and wordy?:) Thank you so much for helping, and please let me know if you find anything, I'll keep looking too.:)

Great forum Julia, I am AWC1967 on that forum ( joined about 3 months back) it is awesome.
I heard that story of the gum wrappers, It was great of Paul to give thanks, he's a beautiful human being.
