I was thinking the same thing, sorry Jaws you're not a member of the Town of Babylon, therefore you are not allowed to swim in these waters, you must either pay $25.00 or leave. Stupid Long Island BS!

Can the picture of this poor shark be removed already? How many days do we have to look at a dying/dead creature that had the misfortune to meet its end in front of a bunch of idiot beachgoers?

While sharks do seem to scare the public no one seemed scared to come up to this one and mess with it while it was suffering. Looking doesnt hurt but letting your small child pet a shark 20 times its size just doesnt seem right to me. If your child brought a dead bird home would you let them still play with it?

It's New York. Ppl here back over their kids playing in the driveway with the family car, burn down the room their kid is sleeping in, allow their kid to roam around the neighborhood only to find them floating face down in the neighbor's pool, leave their kids in the car while they go shopping.

And you're concerned about them letting them pet a beached, dead or near dead shark that's 20-times bigger?

The same can be said about Michael Jackson pictures. Enough already. I'd rather look at dead fish.

Generally the larger sharks stay in deeper waters of the cost and sharks in general are not man eaters. You have a better chance of being in a car accident than being attacked by a shark. I was raised on LI and lived here for over 50 years and I still go into the ocean almost every weekend if the weather is good (not too good this year) and don't worry about sharks. I am more concerned with jelly fish that drift into te waters every August.

That's not saying much! You have a pretty good shot at getting in a car accident on Long Island. Have you been on the roads lately?

Thats why I drive a shark to work. The probability of anyone crashing into a shark on sunrise highway must be a BILLION to one. Those are odds you can take to the bank.
