Hey never had any problems in the waters always respectful to the law and today I was out with my wife and kids anchored and fishing minding our own business.. The ny parks police stooped by and started giving me a speech how unsafe and illigal it was to anchor at the bay by short beach ??? And that both my kids needed to have life jackets on even though we were not moving ! I apologized that I wasn't aware that my 10 and 11 yrs needed life jackets eventhough we were anchored both officers were acting as if I was a criminal and proceeded to give me summons !! I thought they totally acting like nazis and a courtesy wArning would of been more than suffienct if they really were being concerned but apparently there on a huge power trip and like to ruin decent people trying to enjoy there weekend on the water !! But it's clear and sad that just miserable that most people r having a good time and there working! How sad ! Hope u can sleep at nite!
Another sh1t 4 brains. How do YOU sleep at night, genius? DECENT PEOPLE place life jackets on their passengers when on the water. Why is it that the people who can afford the nice toys are the ones without a shred of common sense to go out and use them right? If you are too stupid to learn the laws, don't buy the boat. Even better, next time do us all a favor, let the kids wear life jackets and don't have one on yourself, that way when you fall in and drown, society will be rid of a dumb ass like you. And wear a necklace made out of broiled scallops, I hear the sharks love it. It truly amazes me that morons like you find women to marry them. You should be ashamed of yourself. Oh and only people who know that there is no such agency as the parks police get warnings, people that say parks police get tickets (I can't wait for that new Stupid in the Smart Zone law to take effect!!!).

A traffic ticket is written for a VIOLATION of law, meaning Officers are allowed to issue warnings, unlike a crime for which an arrest must be made. Lots of people get those warnings every day. If a cop chooses to give another cop a warning, it's no different. There are situations where Law Enforcement Officers are not polite when they get pulled over, and guess what happens, yes, they do sometimes get a ticket.
Some of you work for companies that provide huge benefits, bonuses, stock options, etc etc.....well, the cop not getting the ticket, that's his stock option. I think some of you that are cop haters, or are simply confused as to how society works, should move to another country, it's too crowded here anyway...I need some elbow room.
For the record I clicked the wrong link, the last paragraph wasn't directed at the guy whose wife is retired, it was directed at the other moron complaining that cops don't get tickets.

THATS THE PROBLEM WITH SOCIETY TODAY. IS THAT THERE IS THE LACK OF RESPECT TOWARDS POLICE OFFICERS AND OFFICIALS THAT ARE JUST DOING THEIR JOBS!

In an ideal world...Law Enforcement Officers would:
-Help you on the highway if your broke down, instead of flying by at 80 MPH
-Be respectful of the citizens they are sword to server and protect, instead of presuming everyone is a hardened criminal.
-Remember the LAW themselves, instead of thinking they are "above the law".
-If they don't want the "risk" or "danger" of the job, instead find another job?
But as those of us, like the person above, have encountered them, they treat us as citizens like we are beneath them. But continue to be good ignorant citizens and support your local Gestapo.

Doing their job or following policy's that law abiding citizens are harassed while the PBA card carrying membership of family members are not subjected to,..
Look at what is going on today in the courts the higher echelon of the Nassau county police department are on trial ,for what, for attempting to cover up the criminal behavior of an arrested family member of a police benefactor who has provided monies to the department...Is this law enforcement or is this selective law enforcement...Any long islander who has lived here for the past few decades knows of the criminal behavior of these PBA card carrying, above the law dirtbags...I know of kids who drove their cars damaging a police car with an ounce of weed on the seat ,no arrests just a call to daddy cop...then you have these off duty cops drinking like pigs at your kids soccer practices and games, walking around and driving inebriated without a care or concern what others think...you have off duty drunken cops shooting and dropping guns in taxi cabs,,and all of it covered up with no respect to the public, you have off duty cops killing hems elves and friends driving 100 mph on the streets...the police force is now stafffed by the self entitled who shoot first and ask questions later, while they cover up for there own mistake with no transparency for the public
Why is it hatt the new commission of Nassau wants the ability to fire cops who bring shame to the force yet the police union won't allow it to happen ..any law abiding citizen does do nothave these protections on their jobs yet this is how these tax paid cops have it...then look at the remarks and the mentality of these dirtbags for anyone who dares to bring up this subject,,,the mentality of high school kids more like it....go do yourself a favor and get a drink and stop trying to bs the public....we've seen enough....

My sister and I were ticketed by New York State Police for trying to spread our fathers ashes under Lucifer Falls ...This is a beautiful park, so beautiful my sister and I traveled from Syracuse to spread some of our fathers ashes. I had heard about this park and thought what a serene and magical place. On Sunday July 21 2013 we parked at the Upper Park entrance, we walked the mile or so around and down the steps meeting a few hikers along the way who were all wet... These hikers said down around the bend was the gorge along Lucifer Falls. We came across the bend after the steps, there was an iron gate that was opened. There were about 10 different people among the rocks & near the waterfall. We waited awhile then walked over to the rocks next to the waterfall and took the jar with ashes with us. Today was the first day since he passed in November that we attempted to honor his life & put his ashes somewhere. We were very anxious and it was very hard to prepare for. The  other people who were near asked us what was in the jar & we explained. They said sorry and said they would give us some privacy. About 1 minute later I look behind me and there is a NYS Park Police officer, we get our things and walk over. She says "ladies whats in the jar?" we explain these are our fathers ashes and we were trying to honor his life and spread his ashes. She tells us we are in a prohibited area and asks for our identifications. We explain we didn't realize we were in prohibited area and she tells us we need to hike back up to the car to get our id  (about 2 miles back up around the bridge and steps)... This whole time I am thinking why not just given us a warning, especially considering the sensitivity of the matter. She walks us past I'd say about at least 30 other people in the creek and waterfalls all along the trail on the way back up. I ask her aren't you going to ask them to accompany us and she advises "No I already have you two". She yells at these people "Get out of the water, this is a warning" ( one woman, holding a toddler in her arms next to 5 other children under the ages of 5 in the water with her ) I am more alarmed at putting the safety of the children at risk on the moss covered rocks and these children being possibly hurt. The whole time I am snapping pictures of these people in the water with my fathers beautiful Nikon camera. This whole time my sister and I are feeling embarrassed because we are being escorted like CRIMINALS. The same couple who we saw at Lucifer Falls told the officer she was " SHAMEFULL" for ticketing us. As we near the car the officer asks us what made us come to this park and tells my sister and I  " You girls have Green Lakes in Syracuse "  I was wondering what is that supposed to mean? We give her our IDs and she gives us a ticket summons to the Town of Enfield on August 2, the violation is being in a prohibited area with a maximum of 250 dollars. I am going to fight this ticket also considering the officers insensitivity and taunting remarks will be filing an official complaint with her Sargent who will need to meet with my sister and I take an official complaint from us. This area depends on tourist traveling here and spending money but although this park felt magical the officer ruined our day... Even more disturbing we were never able to spread our fathers ashes and honor and celebrate his life. Very disturbing indeed.

I don't know why you are getting so much hate from these tools. There is nothing illegal about sitting in an empty parking lot and drinking a soda. I can understand the bit about roller blading on the walking path, but I believe you were in the right every other time. Passing a cop? I don't think it's disrespectful if they aren't going the speed limit. What makes them so special that we can't pass them like any other person.

Nobody should over-reach the authority vested in them.State park police do a good job but they should respond to incidents and not make incidents. They have to deal with the "public" and that could mean anything. As for me I have dealt with the public for 40 years and it is not an easy job.It is a thankless job and officers should never look for thanks because besides your colleagues you just will not get it. So just do your job be thankful you have your job and use common sense and DO NOT OVERREACT! Disrespect is growing but you the officer are not going to teach them a lesson,it is too late for that.Keep politics out of the civil servant arena, thank you
