so now gay new yorkers can get married in other states and then receive the same benifits as a man and wife couple in new york even though we dont recognize gay marriages in the state? wtf is that?

What political process, exactly, did he cicumvent?(psst, and no, he didn't make a law, oy)
You must admit that, regardless of whether you agree with his action or not, it is at least open to argument that the Gov usurps the authority of the NYS Legislature when he/she orders State agencies to recognize same-sex 'marriages' from other States that violate existing NYS Law.

Anyone who doesn't like the fact that they do, the Gov included, must look to the NYS Legislature to change NYS Law.

Every New Yorker should be against this usurping of authority for political purpose, regardless of their opinion of this topic.
Exactly right.

When and if Jesus comes back--as Christians claim--boy is he going to be furious to see what you've done to his religion, and the deeds that have been perpetrated in his name.

if all mariages are gay - from now on and forever - how will new babies be born - 2 men or 2 women cannot reproduce - i'm getting really fed up with this gay thing - enough is enough - you're here - you're queer - and NO
we will never get used to it!!
Are real concern that chilren will STOP being born ??........ Or are you imposing a narrow view of conception as a stratagem to stop legalization of gay unions ?

That's is the last thing we need on this earth is fruit cakes marrying. Like we don't have enough problems. They should all be packed up and send to Egypt

Well, it can be interpreted that way if you don't understand what Paterson actually did. He didn't create a new law, or really change any NY state procedure. He simply clarified the fact that NY state recognizes legal unions from other states and countries, something that we as a state have been doing for centuries. He is also following a NY state court ruling which reaffirmed that very same thing recently, and probably saved the taxpayers a ton of money that would be wasted on lawsuits. He did not create a new law or any such thing, and in no part of the NY state constitution is there wording that prohibits gay marriages.

So, again, what part of the legislative process did Gov. Paterson usurp?

Considering how straight people have screwed up marriage (high divorce rate) and the number of unwed mothers in this country (no accidental children if all you have is gay sex), maybe it's us straight people who should be packed up and sent to Egypt.
Nah, I wouldn't want to get lumped with the likes of you.

I think we'll have to agree to disagree. I do think everyone has the right to be happy. But by definition,'everyone' includes all of those who feel that their traditions or religious rights are being violated. Non gay people have rights too. Their religious beliefs are important to them. Forcing a change in things that are really closely tied to their religion isn't fair. The state has no business there.
I think that the legalities protecting the gay lifestyle are covered now, so there is no gain being fought for. It's all positioning; it is all about acceptance and validation. I don't understand why gays feel this is so important. They can commit to each other now, and have all of the legal protections.
It just doesn't seem like enough fun for them until they can tear down someone else's tradition. Sometimes you don't plan on the amount of pushback you are going to get by forcing your position. A lot of people are going to draw a line in the sand here.
Enjoy the weekend.
Legalities aren't covered until gay people can get each other's pension checks, SSI benifits, and everything else on the FEDERAL level, not to mention filing for taxes as "married".
BTW, nobody is making your church perform these ceremonies.

As soon as Whitman, 35, heard on the news Wednesday night about the state's new stance on gay marriages, he decided he would propose to his longtime partner the following day. Now the work trip to California the couple had planned for late June will include a wedding - theirs.
**********

AS SOON AS I HEARD, I TOOK MY GREAT DANE PARTNER FOR A WALK.
Realizing that New York was considering this wonderful move, I knew we couldn't be far BEHIND on this historic action. Having felt this love for my partner, Jack Twist, we gazed into each other's eyes, and we knew it was the right thing. As soon as he was done licking his chops, I proposed. He quickly lifted his leg on a tree; a sign of acceptance for him. We sat there and stared into each other's eyes, and I gave him a kiss on his snout. We wondered; will we ever be able to procreate?

WHAT A SICK SOCIETY. BEASTALITY UNIONS WILL THE NEXT MOVE FOR GOVERNOR STEVIE Paterson.

It's a shame to see New York becoming the San Francisco of the east coast.

Now, for the real news in the Rag, what about the big fire at 50 Cent's! Now this is headline stuff for NewsRag! My suggestion, get the people out, and let it burn to the ground. WHO CARES! Take a look at her picture on News-rag; come on, who wouldn’t want her out?
Maybe Paterson is on to something………

Nice retort from someone who lives in a place with such a bad dropout rate who's only response to solve it is "lets raise the rate that kids can drop out"... like that would stop anyone.

Ever heard the phrase "methinks thou dost protest too much". If bestiality were legalized you might just move back here to take advantage of the law.
Of course that would only cover your sexual perversion. If a goat is your true love, that means that you have zoophilia. Considering they way you treat humans, that may be exactly what you have.

It's interesting that Religious Conservatives are up in arms about Gay Marriage (if they want to be as miserable as heterosexuals are, why stop them?) but have nothing to say about Polygamy!
Ever since Warren Jeffs and the FLDS got into the news; and Texas took their children - I haven't heard a peep from James Dobson or Pat Robertsen!
If marriage is between one man and one woman: then what about Polygamy?
This confirms my view that this is all about getting (Republican) votes and winning elections.
According to other reports I've read Religious Conservatives in Arizona are funding these efforts - well - the FLDS has a compound in Arizona as well! I haven't heard of any efforts to enforce the law against Polygamy in Arizona lately, have you?

A fine example of illiteracy from someone trying to sound smart. Please have your "retort" edited by someone that understands the English language.
They should use your "retort" as an example of why kids should stay in school and graduate; do they want to write like you?
"Stay on topic." That's what I always said to my special education students in NY, where I taught. I guess you must have heard a lot in those 6 years in high school.
The lowest educational level achieved in my family is a masters degree.
Get back in night school and get that GED, you can do it!
