The real message of this story was to show how some parts of ky have been forgotten. I know that drug abuse and sexual abuse is in every corner of the world. so get off that kick. Not everyone lives this way people in every corner of the nation is also needing jobs and improvment in Goverment federal and local this is what we should be focusing on making a positive change in the nation that will have great impact on forgotten states like Ky. You know Ky also has alot to offer. so please be helpful not hurtful to our nation.

I read in the LaFollette Press that Marie Cirelo was named as the mother Teresa of the Appalachia.
Well, that is the most slanderous thing I have ever read!
She may have brought some housing to the area but has never brought anything into the area but low income drug dealers, buyers, thieves and tramps.
The area used to be a clean place, people had no idea what the future was about to bring them.
I remember the early 80's when she first came here, she promised jobs, by means of the home buildings, she promised low income housing and she promised these tennants would be nice, clean people. Not the case.
Does anyone else remember how she first got her money to get started up? I do, she would write these newspapers in cities like NY City, Washing Post and so forth and tell these people that no one in the area had indoor plumbing, running water nor electricity. That is how she got her start, that is what she says about us so that she can get her money and then not hire local help to assist her in building new homes.
Is she were as good as the paper made her out to be then why does she and her followers blast minning and logging? Aren't these two things what have kept food on most of our tables through the years?
Think about it people, if it weren't for coal, where would your electric come from, how would some people keep warm and how would some of our families keep foor on our tables? The same goes for logs, aren't our homes built from wood? Yes, they are. Some people still use wood burning stoves as well.
My point is that she needs to go back to NY or where ever the hell she came from! I for one am sick and tired of everyone worshiping her as though she were some saint, when she is in most everyone that I know's book, a demon.

Country Girl: Here's my question. I do enjoy watching the Jerry Springer show, but am starting to think they're making most of it up. Do a lot of people in the South act like these characters on the show or is it all fake like the World Wrestling Federation?

Just catching on? Hey baby, it's SHOW BIZ. Truth ain't part of it, only if it sells better.

Go picket Target for your $80 loss. And then picket your nose, too.:)

I think that it is probably like the wwf.but there are some nutty people down here(as they are every where)dont judge us because oof the people you see on there.there are wonderful people here also.People that would be ther for you in a heart beat and give you the shirt off their back if you needed it.Hey,we are not like the people you see in movies like"wrong turn"or anything:)

Kudos for having a good sense of humor at least. Nice to know you're doing so well that $80 don't mean a thing for you either. But that's easy to say on the internet. If they overcharged you 80 CENTS at restaurant I bet you'd scream at the top of your lungs and threaten to picket the place until you got your 80 cents back plus interest. So you'd pound on the counter until you got back 81 cents altogether...:-)

I guess it depends on the person. Us Yankees sure have our share of "nutty people." But you're probably a real estate agent in KY trying to get as many of us as possible to move to your area.

"Hey,we are not like the people you see in movies like"wrong turn"or anything:)"

What about that old movie "Deliverance?" :-)

Anyway, all kidding aside, have you ever been to the midwest states above you like Illinois, Indiana or Ohio? Once you get more than about 75 miles south of Chicago, people talk and act like Southerners. Same in central to south Indiana and Ohio. A lot of them are friendly but some still think we're still fighting the civil war.

Well come to think of it....;-)

Would anyone consider corn cider?

BTW the steep cliffs and the rapids in the movie "Deliverance" were shot in and around the Saint Croix River between Minnesota and Wisconsin.

You had better seek some sort of counseling. And please go to Gimbles, Macys, Walmart, Shopko, Walgreens or Piggly Wiggly rather than Target.

Glad to see now you've learned the error of your ways and no longer recommend Target stores to people. Now if you can just stop taking leaks against the wind & walking around with naturally made egg rolls on the back of your slacks your life might improve.
