In 2011 Lucas Duda hit for both power and average, then nosedived in 2012. Now he's undergoing a complete batter's-box makeover to eliminate the bat waggle and double toe-tap that served him so well in '11. Why would anyone be surprised that Lucas is now so screwed up that he could!'t hit a beach ball if they tossed it his way?
I guess I've seen this scenario play out to the Mets' detriment too many times in past years. I foresee Duda's demise and eventual trade to another team, where, of course, he will flourish.
Boy, I sure hope i' wrong about this.

not to worry Eddie at all. He'll be fine. Keep in mind with all the young talent at Sandys disposel he can always find another slugger to put between him and Wright. This team will be playing both small ball and long ball if needed. This pitching staff will grow this year and we'll be seeing amazing potential at times. In 2014, this team will be loaded, stocked and winning multiple world series. NY baseball is finally back

Speaking of weight Zach has been put on a special diet for that purpose the kid still has alot of growing to do and when he fully develops it could get scarey
Hey buddy....last year you came on with your t-man handle and said numerous times the mets are a joke....."we had better leadership under Omar" phony impersonations of being a bad team remember moron?

The stated mission of this organization is to win the World Series, anything less is failure. Using this logic, as put forth by the Yankee organization, the Yankees have had failure seasons for 11 of the past 12 seasons. You can spin it any way you want, but I am only repeating what the Yankee organization has told the media and the fans. Making the playoffs doesn't matter, winning a Division doesn't matter, winning the American League Championship doesn't matter. Winning a World Series in 1999 doesn't matter because it is 2013 and the only thing that matters is winning a World Series right now, anyhting less is failure.

No cause of worrie or alarm. Future phenom Wheeler being rested today just as precautionary. No need to take any risks with a guy this loaded with talent.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.-- The Mets scratched prospect Zack Wheeler from Wednesday's start after he strained a right oblique muscle taking batting practice.

"Strained" sounds more than "precautionary" to me, Momma.

Mets will be in the wild card hunt. Mark it down. Cowgil will be the surprise of the year and Wheeler will be a future cy young. Both he and Harvey will be 20 game winners for years to come. Those that are jealous of me in my role with the mets will see me waving from my met suite with Sandy at the season opener. Citi will sell out while the juicekees can't give away the tickets to the opener to the bums at the alleys.

I can't speak for all of Mets fandom, but I have been enjoying the spring games so far, mostly because those contests showcase a lot of young players and newcomers. The Cowgill guy shows a lot of hustle in the field and on the basepaths. I wish Nieuwenhuis looked half as good. Baxter looks solid in RF; he showcased a strong arm against the Nats the other night. He has a good eye at the plate, too. Good OBP man.

Wilmer Flores may not make the big club this time around, but he has looked okay at 2B, certainly no worse than Danny Murphy. Reese Havens, on the other hand, has just not cut it with the glove or with the bat. Too bad. I was hoping that he'd pan out. Hicks, Quintanilla and Bixler are running neck-neck for the job of Reuben Tejada's caddy.

Travis d'Arnaud shows somem promise behind the plate and may even make the opening day roster. He's already an upgrade over Josh Thole, as are Buck and Recker.

The starting staff looks respectable, even without Santana, who may never regain his old form. Niese, Harvey, Wheeler, Gee and Hefner could conceivably carry the load until Johan gets straightened out. Yes, I'd rather see Hefner on the mound every fifth day instead of Mejia, who seems to have regressed.

The bullpen is still an enigma, but that's what spring training is for. Bobby Parnell has looked pretty good, even qwith all the infield miscues that seem to occur every time he makes an appearance. RPs Montero,, Edgin, Carson, McHugh, Lyons et al. have been, well, not awful. Which brings us to Frank Francisco. If Francisco were a horse, they'd have shot him by now.

He dicho.

Hello Mets fans...it has been awhile....I know you are out there somewhere....

As for me, I am not concerned where the Mets may finish this year. If they should somehow make it as a 2nd WC, great, but if not I am not concerned.

What's more important is where they are going from 2014 and beyond....I like what Sandy and his cohorts are doing.....developing homegrown young pitching studs (though Wheeler and Syndergard are not) they are in the Mets system.

This GM has got it right...it all comes down to young pitching....Wheeler/Harvey/Syn dergard/Montero/Mazzoni/Fulmer /Mateo/Robles along with Niese and Gee, the future looks bright.

Pitching, pitching and more pitching...you can never have enough....finally we have some young studs who are developing into promising starters to come. As far as Familia and Mejia, I think there best days are in the bullpen...but both are power arms. I hope Parnell can finally break through as an elite closer...I never liked Francisco....Lyons is a good complement.

If Wilmer Flores plays just as good or better than Murphy at 2B and he is tearing up AAA pitching, I think Murphy is gone by mid-July and perhaps they can turn him around for some OF help.

All I know, when I see or read about this team, I feel better that the Mets have taken a solid good direction for the future. I have never lost confidence in what Sandy Alderson was trying to do here. I hope that Nimmo/Plawecki/Cecchini will develop into solid positional foundational pieces as well....but time will tell....but there is plenty of solid strong power arms to go around which gives Sandy a position to deal from strength.

Eddie I've been watching this team very closely. The players can't wait to start the season. As I've posted many times, this year is just to showcase the talent and earn experience. In 2014 this team will be stocked and loaded to dominate for the next decade. Sandy has known what hes been doing since day 1. Like I been saying, baseball is back in NY finally
