Since "all" military actions are ending shortly in Afghanistan I believe that International Law requires a prisoner exchange.
So for all practical purposes they were going to be released in the near future anyway.
International law regarding prisoner exchanges applies to recognized governments, not terrorist organizations. It also involves cease fires. Has this terrorist organization claim any cease fire like in past wars we had? How you can still defend this fraud is sickening

Obama and Clinton had lunch at the WH days before this fiasco. Benghazi Hill was given the low down and now is the official 'second guesser-in-chief', a role that she relishes. Waiting for the next 'What difference does it make' when formally asked about the deserter, it's coming.

New York (CNN)– Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that she is "absolutely" satisfied with what she knows about the Benghazi terror attack, and cast doubt on the intentions of House Republicans spearheading a select committee to investigate it.

"I mean of course there are a lot of reasons why, despite all of the hearings, all of the information that’s been provided, some choose not to be satisfied and choose to continue to move forward," Clinton said in an appearance in New York.

"That’s their choice and I do not believe there is any reason for it to continue in this way, but they get to call the shots in the Congress," she said.

The remarks were her first public comments on the formation of a select committee to investigate the September 11, 2012, terror attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in eastern Libya that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

Benghazi has become a partisan flashpoint over President Barack Obama’s conduct of foreign policy and is likely to dog Clinton as she considers launching another White House run.

Republicans have held her culpable since she led the State Department at the time, and some have said the attack should disqualify her from holding elected office.

At multiple events this year, Clinton has said Benghazi was her "biggest regret" from her tenure as America’s top diplomat.

"It was a terrible tragedy losing four Americans, two diplomats and now it is public so I can say two CIA operatives," she said previously in New Orleans.

A Senate report earlier this year said the attack was "likely preventable" based on known security shortfalls and prior warnings that the security situation there was deteriorating.

The decision to launch a new investigation follows the disclosure of information last week that Republicans say supports their contention the White House politicized its public response to the armed assault.

Democrats have bristled at the formation of a select committee since other congressional panels have been investigating the matter since it occurred. They counter that Republicans have politicized the investigation.

"My biggest regret is what happened in Benghazi," Clinton said in New Orleans. "It was a terrible tragedy losing four Americans, two diplomats and now it is public so I can say two CIA operatives."

Depends on their classification.

Playing word games only works with stupid people. There are International Laws that apply and a lot depends on whether they are actual terrorists or just members of the Taliban who were fighting within their own country against an invader.

Unless War Crimes can be applied members of an opposing military force fighting for their country come under International Laws.

There is a difference and your right wing Republican political rhetoric will not change things.

The best thing about all this is that you right wing whacko's are going bonkers about it.

AND

Likely there is nothing - nothing you can do about it.

Afghanistan is winding down and Taliban POW are likely going to be released under International Law.

There are NO Taliban POW's

The U.S. invasion of Afghanistan following the September 11 attacks of 2001, fighters captured on the battlefield have been labeled “unlawful combatants” and have not been afforded protections guaranteed under the Geneva Conventions.

It would be very hard to classify such things as ambushes and roadside bombs as war crimes when those doing the ambushing and setting the bombs are fighting against invaders on the soil of their own country. Nor can the label of "terrorism" be used to describe their tactics. The United States itself set that precedent.

In the first 6 months or so after Pearl Harbor, when there was a very real fear that the Japanese would invade the west coast, California newspapers published a series of articles prepared by the U.S. government that are a veritable how to manual for guerrilla warfare and "terrorism." The articles gave instructions on tactics that civilians were encouraged to employ against the Japanese. These included detailed instructions on how to derail troop trains in such a way as to maximize casualties, poisoning water and food, etc. Had the U.S. been invaded, Americans would have been some very nasty characters, "terrorists" of the first order.
WELCOME HOME CANCELLED

HAILEY Idaho (Reuters)- The hometown of U.S. Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, feeling a backlash over allegations that he was a deserter, has canceled a rally planned for later this month celebrating his release from five years of Taliban captivity, officials said on Wednesday.

Heather Dawson, the city administrator of Hailey, Idaho, told Reuters that town officials called off the June 28 event at the request of organizers because the town "will be unable to safely manage the number of people expected." - SURE, SURE, SURE

The decision came as the community came under mounting pressure to cancel the rally in the face of rising anger, expressed in emails and phone calls directed at city officials and businesses, over claims by Bergdahl's onetime Army comrades that he had deliberately abandoned his post in Afghanistan.

Stefanie O'Neill, an organizer of the welcome-home rally originally set for June 28, had insisted as late as Tuesday that the celebration would go on as planned. But on Wednesday, she and her mother, Debbie, a co-organizer of the event, paid a visit to the Army sergeant's parents, Bob and Jani Bergdahl, to ask whether they wanted the celebration to proceed as planned. AND THE ANSWER WAS:

A short time later came the city's announcement that the event was being canceled.

Did the Rosenbergs get a welcome home party?

How can you "as a Christian" say his father is a traitor also?

First know the real honest facts rather than believing every news story that was spun for political purposes. THINK for yourself.

Whether or not his parents knew he was disillusioned with the military and the war is not relevant, nor does it make his dad a traitor "if" his dad knew he was going to desert. The parents were half way around the world and likely had no say over the matter either way.

As to the letter's and packages do you actually know what was sent or are you simply relying on spun news sources that are being put out for pure anti-Obama political rhetoric.

Just to help your clear your mind, the dad and mother are "well known" to be Christians. But even if they were Muslims what in the hell difference does it make? I would propose to you if you are a "true" Christian, spreading lies and falsehoods is not Christian.

The parents are happy to get him back regardless of whether he proves out to be a deserter.

There is many deserters and draft dodgers as a result of the War in Nam. Many in very important positions today not only in business but in politics. I would even propose the Bush got into the National Guard in Texas because of family connections in order to escape serving in Vietnam. He was not the only one either. Dick Cheney dodged the draft but today is a great lover of Wars for war profits.

Army POW Bowe Bergdahl would have been killed if word had leaked about the five-for-one trade that secured his release, officials said Thursday.

The White House kept Congress in the dark about the controversial swap, officials told The Associated Press, because the Taliban threatened to kill Bergdahl if news had gotten out before the trade was completed Saturday afternoon.

Who would have "killed" Bergdahl if the five for one leaked out" YOU??? I doubt it. Some right wing Republican??? I doubt it.

Lets remember that Republican John McCain approved the five for one trade some time back but now has flip flopped to play politics.
