He scammed me last year as well... Walked away with over $10K. Please report him to the authorities if he is offering you contractor services.

Scott Franks is a contractor that stole a lot of money from me and fellow residents in my Murray Hill apartment building. My guess is that he stole over $50,000 from a handful of people and nearly $15,000 from me alone. He claims to work with two companies: Hillside Design and Lockwood Construction. He will use contracts that have both business names on them, but he is affiliated with neither. He is unlicensed, but will likely use a falsified licenses.

The story...
He was recommended by my superintendent after starting some projects in my building. Since he had my super's recommendation, and a fair price, we decided to hire him to renovate our kitchen and bathroom. Months later, came the excuses. About a year later (today), he does not return any of my calls. He never started work on either room, and walked away with the first two (of four) incremental payments.

Bottom-line...
Scott Franks is a con man, and likely knows nothing about being an actual contractor. He makes a lot of promises and eventually does not come through on any of them.

Under any circumstance, do not trust Scott Franks, Hillside Design or Lockwood Construction. Scott Franks should be in jail for larceny and fraud.

I was hired by him and his partner dave , they screwed me out of $3000 on final electrical work. Scott had the nerve to get mad and leave a screaming voicemail when I alerted his customer that he fled with the monies to pay all his subs. Last i heard he was begging his former carpenter , Frank to borrow $100.

Out of curiosity, does anyone here know the whereabouts of Scott Franks... or whether that was even his real name?

Getting screwed by contractors apparently happens pretty often in NY - but I would love to try to hunt him down to bring him to justice and try to recoup some of my losses.
