I had the same experience in 1975. I did 3 years in the military and died on the NYPD list after 3 years. Thank you Mayor Abe Beame and Governors Rockefeller, Wilson and Carey.

What a sad tale.....but it's bulls***. The city needs cops..hire them...While I usually like the Mayor, this reeks of politics. It's always a problem with cops or children. How about cutting all the Section 8 money or the HEAP money or the Food Stamps. Why is it that the people that work (or want to work) get screwed when the "takers" can sit and socialize while taking my money!

It's time NYS! Make sure to write down who your local Senator, Congressman, Legislator is... Come voting time, do not click that box that would give them a job. Rather pick someone knew, despite your party designation. Your tax dollars have been spent on people who wish to act like children and accomplish nothing. Write them and let them know, that next year they will not have a job!

Instead of raising taxes, let the city get rid of paper pushers and slackers. Higher taxes are going to drive more people away from the city and the anticipated revenue will be lower than what's needed.
