A work-related accident that killed a Lake Ronkonkoma woman at an East Farmingdale packing facility Tuesday night is under investigation, the Suffolk County police's homicide squad said.

Yolanda Gonzalez, 39, was labeling pallets of canned tomatoes at L&S Packing, 101 Central Ave., at about 6:48 p.m. when two adjacent pallets of a bottled vodka sauce toppled over, falling on top of her, police said.

Gonzales was a shipping manager at the facility, police said.

Several co-workers came to her aid, removing the pallets. She was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, police said. The agency investigates all job-related accidents and fatalities.

Calls to the company were not answered Wednesday morning.

What, exactly, is bottled vodka sauce?

Sometimes I get sauced on vodka, but that comes from a bottle of vodka (or even one of those container's with a sippy-straw - sometimes you just gotta make do).

But what is bottled vodka sauce? Is it like... freeze-dried, just add water and voila! A martini.

And how the hell do two pallets just fall over?

While I'm sure you think that was the wittiest threat title ever, rest assured, she was a great person and valued manager.

Her 14 year-old daughter who found out late last night that her mother was crushed to death while putting in some extra hours for the company probably wouldn't appreciate your ignorance.

The main issue, which you are not addressing, is whether or not she was in this country legally. Was she?

If she wasn't and she was therefore nervous about reporting her dangerous work conditions to OSHA for fear of reprisals from ICE or of being fired and unable to find another illegal job, then my statement stands: I don't care. About her or the daughter. At all.

If she was here legally and was just simply too stupid to realize she was working in a dangerous place and did nothing to prevent this, again, I don't care. She was the shipping manager. Safety was her responsibility when it came to items, like pallets, being shipped.

Illegal? Idiot? Both? Doesn't matter. Why? Because I don't care.

Who are you to say that her death is in any way justified by her status in the US? If she IS legal, would that make you care more? Highly doubtful since you seem incredibly ignorant. And if you truthfully don't care, then why the long posts on the topic? I agree that the US needs to crack down on the illegal immigration into our country, but that is a completely seperate topic. This woman's life was taken yesterday and the value of it should not be measured by whether or not she was in the US legally. What she was doing, was trying to provide for herself and her family and give her daughter a decent life. Careful what you say and assume Jimmy, karma does come back to knock us in the ass and you're treading on shakey ground.

I guess it's a good thing your opinion doesn't really matter to the educated among us. Please, go on not caring, maybe your internet friends will respect you for that. You've taken up enough of my time already, and arguing with an imbecile is useless. So take my advice, and keep your opinions to yourself and your redneck pals. Bring it to the big boys table and you will be put in your place.

I don't care about her dying but I do care to see more people like her perish.

Karma came up EARLY in this thread...but yet it looks like someone might have gotten their own karmic justice for breaking the law, right underneath some vodka sauce.

Unless you consider the fact that she was here legally. So please explain what laws were broken there? Where did you get your information, did you dream it up for your illegal immigrant whack-a-mole jack-off fantasy? I'm going to assume that she probably paid more taxes than you do, for you don't give me the impression of a highly compensated person.

And before you predictably move on to it being a matter of her stupidity, remember that I work there, you don't. Your dumb ass would have met the same fate as mine or anyone else's who happened to be standing in that spot at that time, and perhaps the world would have been a better place if it had been you.

Do you consider yourself a decent American? No one else does.
