I appreciate your reply, John. I know that he has always had a dog. And I have been out of the area for quite a while and wasn't getting the Long Island Catholic so I had no idea.
I was active in the Church at both the parish and diocesan levels and while I will admit that it wasn't always the case, it seened like nine out of every ten stories that were in Newsday, even before Murphy got there, was an outright slam of the Church.
I am not a fan of Murphy at all, but I have great respect for the Church in Rockville Centre, and I hope that Murphy gets well soon... so maybe they can get rid of him.

John is correct, Ron Hayde is in Florida, but I believe his departure from RVC was his doing, and not the diocese's. I hear Murphy has put out the Welcome mat for whenever he wants to return. I hope he isn't holding his breath.

Ron Hayde is a good priest, never was there scandal about him, never was he accused of being anything but a good priest, a good teacher and a great musician.
To cast him in a bad light on this forum is taking his good name away for no reason at all.
He is always welcome back to the diocese the ball is in his court.

I love living in a five million dollar home paid for courtesy of the stupid, spiritually lacking morons who actually believe that some guy 2000 years ago is the son of god.
Those nuns I kicked out deserve it.
Oh and remember the Mansion Murphy Motto -- you can do whatever you want so long as you are loyal to me.

The official story is that Ronald Hayde asked for a leave of absence but I heard the truth is he was asked to leave. I also heard he was down in Florida. He was a notorious liberal who once told seminarians "I can't wait for Mother Angelica to die". He was not a nice man obviously and probably should have never been a priest. He was hopefully the last of the liberals who were truly responsible for the nonsense in the DRVC. Thank God for Bishop Murphy and the work he is doing to clean this Diocese up.

Trust me when I say this, the ball is not in his court. Ever hear of the saying" Let's go to the Video tape." Trust me,this Tape would be the most scandalous thing to come out of his "closet".

In my years of knowing Ron Hayde, I have known him to be a good priest and a gifted liturgist and musician. And I can understand his wanting to leave RVC.
I have never heard of a scandal surrounding him and I have to believe that he left on his own. I have heard that he did not get along wth Murphy; on the other hand, he had a good relationship with John McGann, and whether he was asked to leave or not, the diocese has lost a good and hugely talented priest.
And John, if you know so much about this so-called scandal, let's see the proof.

I don't know anything about Msgr. Hayde, but I found this on the web - looks like he requested a sabbatical:

Is there more to this, besides the references to video tape?

Check out the date for a year sabbatical. Sabbatical are for studies. He has left the Catholic Church and works for a Church down in Florida. He is being lacized because he did immoral acts on a Video. ADULT VIDEO wearing leather outfits and sex with MEN...Ella and Cate, move on you do not know what you're talking about.

Murphy lied about his cover up role in Boston. Why would he not lie about a priest, who is never coming back. Place an ad in the bulletin and let the people think that is true. That letter is really old.

I have done some digging, and I read the letter from 2005 that he wrote when he went on sabbatical.
I will continue to dig to find my answers. And no matter what I find, I will still respect what he accomplished while a priest in RVC.
I learned a great deal from him over the years about liturgy, music, and life in general.
BTW, I am in no position to judge another...are you?

Cate,

From someone who doe's not live in the Diocese of RVC and goe's from past memories; it would be wise that you move on. A person will tell us a lot about themselves from their actions. His actions were so scandalous that he was laicized because of his "lifestyle". He was ordained a priest "impersona Christi". He was suppose to be Christ like and his actions were not. He left because his actions warrant immediate laicization and being excommunicated from the Catholic Church. He went to a Church that would accept his "lifestyle". Think about this Cate! Would you want your kids/nieces/nephews to view that video?

Judging "No" I never judged him, basically just told you the Truth.

Mike, I'm not defending Hayde or condemning him - I just presented the letter he sent to his parish and asked if anyone had any more information about his leaving. You presented information about his being laicized and his association with another church in Florida. Do you have anything to back that up?

Anyone who knows me and my history would never question my commitment to telling the truth about predator priests, but you gotta calm down, Mike, and get some facts. That's just being responsible.

Thinking that he is a bad priest or not a nice person simply because someone told you that he "told seminarians" that he could not wait for Mother Angelica to die seems silly. Mother Angelica is notorious for her criticism of priests who do not meet her standards. HER standards? Who the hell died and left HER in charge? She is a pious windbag who should spend more time praying the Rosary and less time judging and criticizing others. Personally I join Father Ron in wishing that her stroke would have affected her speech a little more. Does that sound cruel? Too bad. She is no better than Pat Robertson and the (thankfully) LATE Jerry Falwell in her constant attacks of anything that she does not like. Try live and let live for a change, Honey. The CHurch is big enough even for the likes of you. SO maybe you could give others a little break.

Look, anybody with an ounce of common sense who spent an hour or less with RH would get his "MO". He is a clearly gay (if not flaming) persona who was increasingly an embrassment to the Diocese; whatever his talents and abilties. As for pious comments about the Bishop "cleaning up the Diocese" just look at his official family!
Come on, it's "GQ" time down at Mansion Murphy.
