Andrew Hodge may not look like has speed, but from sideline to sideline can shut players down.

He also was responsible for the interception at the end of the Sayville Game, when Sayville was making another late drive that would have put them ahead. The Sayville Sophomore QB passed for 430 yards in that game.

<quoted text>would've liked to have seen the HHW defensive backs against that Freeport offense...if anyone could stop that passing game...would have been a fun game to watch! Well, the state allows 13 games...hmmm...would the LI football leadership ever get creative and come up with a way to? nah.
There was some talk about 15 years ago of cutting the regular season games to 7, have a couple of cross over games with Nassau County teams, keeping both Conference/Division playoff systems, 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3. Playing the 4 Class LIC's between Nassau and Suffolk. Then after those games, you would have the winners of each Class play, Class I vs Class II and Class III vs Class IV. Then the two winners play a final "true Long Island Championship Game".

As you can see that never happened.

Malcom Cater is playing d1a football for a reason. That's all I have to say. And the stats on newsday are not accurate because some coaches don't put in the stats when they lose a game

Malcolm Carter really didn't have a good senior year, great junior, but not senior year. Riverhead was 7-3 points f/a 158-91, opponents w/l record 56-40. The seven teams they beat the combined w/l records were 23-30. They lost twice to East Islip and once to North Babylon. Malcom Carter only had 91 tackles, and was a non factor on offense. The majority of the running was done by Gregg Meyer(139 carries 921 yards 9 td's.
As I said in 2008 great player Riverhead went 12-0 beat Elmont in the LIC points f/a 429-95, opponents w/l record 65-53.
Could not compare to Hodge(HHHW) or Lacey(Floyd) this year.

I have to agree that Macolm Carter had an off year. My feeling is that when one of the best all players at Riverhead, Andrew Smith graduated that put a lot of pressure on Carter. Smith was a three year starter who through his career played RB, TE, MLB and DE. He had a career total of 205 tackles. Three year starter Greg Meyer even had a better year.

Its not Hewlett, because the parents there and the community knows how much the coaching staff has done to build up the program, but even you said that Hewlett needs to go to the spread or a more open passing game to utilize the strengths they may have. Alex Kahn has more experience than any qb in the conference since he has started games as a sophmore. He has good poise and great mechanics. We trust the coaching staff knows what to do to get this team to be as competitive as possible.

You probably said the same thing in the playoffs last year after you beat them in the regular season. The same goes for this year as far as I am concerned. You will not beat them in the playoffs. The coaching is 10 times better in Hewlett.

I agree that multiple offensive looks would be a great benefit for Hewlett especially if they are going to compete against such strong defensive teams in the conference. Lets see what the staff has in mind and when the best time in the season or playoffs will be to run it. It looks like Boise st vs Oklahoma for Hewlett this year and every year. Im hoping for a good year, but the bar is not so high for Hewlett and you know the coaches do their best to get the team ready.
