I think that parents should be asked how he met this friend of his student and how her parents didn't know about this guy when it was going on for 4 MONTHS!!!!!! I teach lessons out of a store and if you are busy with students you have maybe enough time to talk to the parents on how their child is doing and that is it. I find this to be a slap in the face for the people like myself who make time for kids who want to learn more about their music and are not there to meet their student's friends. This is very upsetting and if he was that lonley he could have gone to one of the bars that are on the same road as the store and after work find someone his own age. These are the types of people who give teachers teaching in a school or not a bad name.

Why do we waste the taxpayer's money on cr@p like music & physical education? The little b@stards can't read and write.
You narrow-minded piece of garbage. In this news story the instructor was teaching at a music store, privately owned and operated and has nothing to do with taxpayers' money. If anything, it's because not enough money in the school system is being allocated toward art, music, physical education that children have to seek out alternative after-school programs like this one. Aside from that, I'll spare the lecture on the history and reason for having a well-rounded education.

Now I'll lighten up and agree with you that many of our youth live unaware of themselves and their literacy.

This is not a woman, its a child. A child is not capable of consenting to sex with an adult. A child is not capable of having a "fling" with a grown man.
This man preyed upon and used this child.
I hate that a filthy pig of an adult would ever think to put his hands on a child to fulfill his sexual thrills.
There are plenty of adults in this world to find a willing partner among.
Prey upon a little girl, and yes to a 29 year old a fifteen year old is a little girl, and you will go to jail.
have you ever seen the way some 15 year old girls act and dress?? these are not your little sweet girls anymore, alot of them, whether you want to beleive it or not, are out looking for thrills. i most HS's kids between the ages of 12 -16, play more sexual games than you can imagine.
this "girl" had a consentual relationship, with this man. he is not the only one responsible for this.

Harriett,
You shouldn't be bashing people when you don't have your facts correct either. I happen to teach at this music STORE. She was not even a student that when to the store to take lessons. Newsday should not even be mentioning Cornet (by the way, Newsday keeps spelling this wrong) in their report. Cornet had nothing to do with this and there was no way to even screen for this. Yes, it's wrong, I'm not defending him. Frankly I don't think he should see the light of day again. However, Cornet is a great music store that employs wonderful teachers and would never allowed for this to happen there, which again, it didn't.
another person that doesnt read

i am not bashing anyone i am asking the previous person why they would say that the teacher was from the public school systems

Have you been to a mall recently? You really can't tell the difference between a 15 year old and 21 year old...wait, sure you can. the 15 year gets out of her mom's car while the 21 year old drive's their own. Other then that, you won't have a clue.

We should all keep it simple, RAPE IS RAPE! The idea of a minor, whether consensual or not means nothing because that person is not capable of emotionally dealing with a adult aged predator who is manipulative, threatening, consoling, befriending, etc. This young kid is almost certainly physcologically damaged for many years to come, and will have much therapy toward any recovery for a normal life. This rapist, youth predator should never see the light of day; they don't rehabilitate but just destroy others if allowed eventual parole.
Umm, no. It's nice that all the people on here are able to keep an open mind... Just because someones young doesn't mean they can't think for themselves, because, they definitly can.

Shocked and Surprised wrote:
I worked with him 4 years ago and got to know him pretty well, I have not seen or spoken to him since then however. I have to say that I am absolutely shocked that he would engage in a relationship of this sorts with a 15 year old. I always thought of him as a really great guy that anyone would like and want to be his friend. I considered him as one of the nicest and most caring people I know. Something has to be up for this to have happened. He is absolutely 100% not the type of person that would force himself upon anyone, let alone a 15 year old child. This girl had to be VERY WILLING to engage in whatever happened between them.
Not that I'm sticking up for anyone, but lets not forget that a 15 year old is a sophomore in High School and not an 8 year old child. In 2.5 more years she will be 18 and considered an adult and in college. I know many of you will disagree with me, but I think rape is a term that does not apply here. Rape should reserved for people for force themselves upon others. Many, but not all, 15 year olds have the psyche to know that what sex is and the consequences of having it with someone 14 years your senior.
I agree.

Dude, 15? She was licking the stick for weeks and weeks, she smoked blunts with him and loved it. Dont give me this sh1t that this is rape. Its a joke. We know 90% of you clowns would get head from her in 15 seconds if you could. She went for him and thats the facts. GROW UP LONG ISLAND!
How about you grow up? So many people on here are saying she was a slut and that she would go for anybody but, she wouldn't. She believed that she loved him, that is the ONLY reason she did anything with him. She wouldn't touch anybody unless she believed she truly loved him.

Daily Horoscope for May 17

Aquarius

This is one of the best days, so enjoy yourself. It isn't a day for work or discipline, so you'll struggle if that's what's expected of you. Mix with people who make you laugh or encourage you to see the world from a different angle. And some travel won't go amiss, either.
