With their wages going up, I expect charges will go up or new magical bundling will be the norm to extract revenue from consumers to pay for the new contract. Don't get me wrong as I do agree wages should increase but in these times, no. We are all losing money on investments, CDs, losing jobs, and etc. Too bad, the CWA couldn't work with the existing contract until the economy, the market improves all the way around. Time to disconnect the land line and other telecom services I really don't need.

Unions have no place in todays society. Unions were formed during the industrial revolution to PROTECT workers from dangerous, sometimes lethal conditions. Today, it's extortion! Union members are low-lives who will do anything, including threaten corporate America, destroy property and act like the low-class people they are. Go get a job where you stand on your own credentials like the rest of us and see you have no skills..

UNION TRASH!!

If most paid their bills on time and I believe they do,there would be no late fees or chargers, then who is going to be paying for Verizons employees raises? If that wasn't the case then you mean to tell me we should not see an immediate increase in our bills? Get real! Our bill will be going up soon!

Those who blast unions are jealous because they don't have one, so have to kowtow to corporate America, which couldn't care less about the workers of this country.

Keep believing the anti-union hype that corporate America spews while expecting employees to work harder for essentially less. Then all of your hard work will pay off...for the corporate stockholders!

Another Union Triumph ! We need More of these in America. The Government of the Corporate Campign Donor needs to be returned to what the Founding Fathers envisioned, Government By The People, For The People, and Of The People. Making Labor Unions more powerful in America, and the people they represent is a step in helping to breakthe stranglehold the Ruling Class Wealthy in the top 1% is removed from power. In a more understandable way of showing this, a decent wage and benefits is far more important for the 'Plantation Workers' at Wal-Mart than more wasted money piling up in the Walton Family Bank Accounts, that benefits no one. Unionize Wal-Mart and help out the poor people they drive like slaves.

Popping up here with more of your nonsesne Ed? What a surprise. What you don't understand (by your own choice or you are incapable) is that these unions are not for the people, they are for themselves. The union honchos simply want to stay in power, control and get rich along with their democrat cronies in government. Do you honestly believe they are doing what is best for each worker? Come on. Unions are no more "for the people" than democrats are. It is ALL about power.

You would like to unionize Wal Mart (why am I not surprised about this). How would you do it? By force?? The workers of Wal Mart have time and time again turned DOWN union representation---that means the PEOPLE turned it down, yes, people. Do you want to force them to join a union they don't want to? More to the point, Wal Mart is a company that is owned by THE PEOPLE! As a public company, it is owned by those who own shares, inlcuding many of those pension funds you so love. So by forcing union contracts on Wal Mart as you suggest, you would be forcing all prices of products they sell to go up. This will only hurt the very people you claim to want to help who shop there. Why would you want to hurt these people? Why? This would also have a depressing effect on the stock price, thereby hurting those pension funds who hold the stock as an investment. Why do you want to hurt those people??

Yet again you have shown your lack of understanding and ability to grasp complex issues. Every action has consequences and effects others and your naive and simplistic view of how the world works shows you do not understand this.

As a verizon tech, I am amazed at how many people are quick to complain about our raise... Is it unfair for us to expect some kind of raise each year? Is it unfair for the comporate head-honchos to want us to pay into our benifits? while they sit back on their 19+million a year salary for doing jack?
Yes, this is the United States, and the economy is diving into an almost state of depression, but does that mean that we(verizon workers) have to head that way as well?

The people that complain are the ones that either hate their job, have no sense of safety of keeping their job, or think they dont get paid enough.... Ill tell you this, join a Union and see how much better you feel... So instead of complaining about something as stupid as $2 more a month on your bill, take the time to realize that it IS well deserved for the techs...

No, you failed to go back far enough. I propose we go back to the 1780, when America's Founding fathers all agreed with me and created a Government Of The People, For the People, and By the People. There was no desire for a Corrupt Government that Lied to the people, and Existed to make Rich Corporations and the wealthiest 1% into a relacement for King George. Now we King George The Clueless Bush running his Corpoate Government, and HaliburtonDick Cheney is the Evil Queen.
End WELFARE for Corporations NOW !

Awww, isn't that a sweet post!! Yeah, everyone deserves a raise, but why do you low-lives have to threaten to destroy wires? Why do you have to threaten to shut down operations? Why do you have to threaten your employer who already pays you much more than your qualifications should allow? Oh yes, thats right..You are low-life UNION TRASH! I think its referred to EXTORTION, FRAUD AND THEFT!!
Unions were created to protect your scu8mbags from danger many years ago. Now you have used it to form organized crime. Congrats on you blue-collar low-lives finding a legal way to steal from people. LOW-LIVES!

Wal-Mart has always threatened the empoyees who try to Introduce a union, and they have often broken the law to accomplish that. They rarely pay any price, and when they do it's a slap on the wrist. This is just another reason why we need to end the Bush reign of terror, we need the Justice Department to stand up again, for Justice.

The Wal-Mart employees should have a web page devoted to signing on to a new union to reprersent them, we could call it " The Plantation Workers Union" since wal-mart workers have so much in common with people who used to work on Plantations.
