Sanchez poisoned the day he signed with the JETS

i like how he turned a sexual assault charge into a positive learning experience, maybe he can do the same thing when the jests start losing next season

If Mark keeps the endorsements at bay for a couple of years and just focus's on learning his job he will be ok. The son of a firemen, in the city that appreciates firemen above all else, Mark should remain hubble and he will succeed. Do not fall victim to being a matinee idol, at least not until you have produced!

This was a no brainer move.
What did they give up that was so costly? A 17th and 52nd plus some journeymen players. Any GM with half a brain would have done this deal. And while true there is no guarantee that ANY pick will live up to their hype. I'd rather take Sanchez's upside, then bet on two other picks not guaranteed either, at positions A LOT deeper in talent, rather then gamble on the most IMPORTANT position in sports, and let Sanchez get away. There are plenty of TE's and WR's to go around and many standouts in the pros now were picked later in the draft anyway. Again you don't pass up a QB of his talent, for a WR or any other position on the field, when he is available to you. Unless you've already got one. |

How come we never get a guy with big arm? They are already saying 'good, not great' arm. If it was me, I wouldda stayed at 17 and picked a receiver, used 2nd rounder on a DE. Jets have a tough schedule. 5th toughest in the NFL. So you lose EVERY game you can. Then next year there are 2 or 3 QB prospects with PRO ARMS. Take the TEXAS QB, and you don't have to trade anything. Use your second pick on another receiver.
Instead, the Jets will have a QB with a questionable arm throwing to covered receivers because they have no speed at the position. My plan you end up with a big armed QB and two fast receivers. The only downside is one more year of losing. Know what? They'll lose anyway and end up with stiffs. |

Pete Carrol says he isn't ready. Pete wasn't a good pro coach but you can't question what he's done at SC.Hopefully he's wrong but just in case who's the starter till he's ready?

Here we go with the "big arm" conspiracies again. Exactly what is a "big arm" anyway? Please explain that to me. Because if your talking about arm "strength", then what was wrong with Dan Marino and Fran Tarkenton, who only had two of the strongest arms in the history of the NFL. Arm strength doesn't guarantee anything. Joe Montana didn't have the strongest arm and yet he has 4 titles to his name and a few MVP's. In fact if you look back at his throwing history, 90% of his passes were short passes and crossing routes. His accuracy was what made him great. It was because he hit his receivers in stride, and put it where only the receiver could get it. He got it to his playmakers and let them do the rest. Warren Moon had a strong arm - No Championships Randall Cunningham - Strong arm - No Championships Jeff George - Strong Arm - No Championships Drew Bledsoe - Strong Arm - No Championships *(because of him) Drew Brees - Strong Arm - No Championship Donovan McNabb - Strong Arm - No Championship And these legends again Dan Marino, Fran Tarkenton, Archie Manning There are no stats, or data out there that says a QB who has strong arm is going to produce more wins or championships then a QB whose arm isn't as strong. Even Elway, who had one of the strongest arms ever, didn't win anything until he was surrounded by better talent. Ryan Leaf had a strong arm, but not the right attitude or mental makeup. Neither did Jeff George, Heath Shuler, and you can probably add Jay Cutler to that list also, among many others. It's the intangibles that make a great QB, and a winning QB, not a strong arm. Sanchez has the intangibles, and his arm is more then qualified to get it done. If that's your only argument, then you don't know much about football or the QB position. |

And another thing. You would have stayed at 17 and picked a receiver? Why? Is that receiver guranteed to be a game changer or playmaker? It's funny how you would pass up one of the best QB's on the board and the most important position in sports because you "think" he doesn't have what it takes. Yet you would pick a receiever who ALSO is unproven, and plays a position MUCH DEEPER in talent. Please, receivers are a dime a dozen. There are WAYYYY TOO MANY examples of 1st round receiver busts. give me a break. I still remember when the Jets passed on JJ Stokes and everyone was crying that the Jets just passed over the next Jerry Rice, HAHAHA Yeah right! Where is Stokes now? Is he even playing anymore? And while there are just as many examples of 1st round QB busts, the bottom line is you go with the most important position when you can, because without a QB, your 1st round receiver isn't catching squat! |
