Why not have your kids learn the real thing! I've been playing for 50 Years and I play daily. Too many short cuts are not a good thing.Com puters are great I'm a Microsoft Certified Engineer, with 25 years of computer experience. If the children of today do not bother to learn to create real music with real guitars, the art could become extinct.

Guitar hero is a good first step. It seems like kids are becoming more interested in learning to play guitar after playing the game

Yeah, a real guitar is so much better than a piece of plastic and lots of 1s and 0s.

Pitiful ... another example of virtual, pretend, wannabe activity supplanting actual accomplishment. Considering the hours upon hours spent manipulating a cheap plastic toy rather than learning to play an actual guitar, this is just sad. Unlike a real instrument, the toy cannot be used to create, allows no musical communion, and requires tethering to a computer to operate. Pitiful ... the beaming mom in the video looks like a complete idiot.

hey jackasses like Mike B,

Some of us already playe instruments besides guitar very well in college jazz bands, or are learning guitar but are not advanced to play most of the songs in the game. Its no substitute obviously, its a game and on lower levels is pretty easy for most people Its a fun way for my friends and I to hang out when you want a break from beer pong or movies. Were you upset when people played mario kart and didnt become go carting fanatics, or dance dance revolution because the kids didnt learn to really dance?

There also will always be plenty of people learning to play actual guitar as long as rock is still very popular. Get off your high horse and stop acting like its killing the arts. Budget cuts are killing the arts more than this game.
