No climbing trees allowed in New York City parks.

Whoever has thoughts of going to Central Park, Battery Park, or where ever in New York City to climb trees will need to totally reconsider at once, as climbing trees at the park is a big major no-no in New York City. In 1999, a father was fined $1,000 without remorse and without warning after his children and a friend climbed a Japanese White Pine in Central Park, located in Manhattan. Even though he fought the fine in court, he still lost badly and still had to pay the full $1,000 fine. Neither he nor the children received any warnings at all from any park staff/park rangers before the fine was issued.
