Gun control laws gain little traction

"I can tell you that I don't think there's any other developed country in the world that has remotely the problem we have," New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg said after the shooting rampage at a Colorado theater in July killed 12 people.

There is already a law in Connecticut that prohibits firearms on school property. The shooter ignored that law. He shot people violating another law. Those laws didn't stop him. The only thing another law would do would add more charges.

Tougher gun control laws may help but the sad truth is that someone who plans to go out and shoot random people isn't going to care about gun laws.

we should have no laws since someone might ignore them.

Sarcasm doesn't really offer anything.

New gun laws only restrict law abiding gun owners. You will never stop everyone from violating laws. Everything from smoking in a banned area to premeditated murder.

Can you show where any law that piled onto existing laws have helped stop the criminal element of society? Without sarcasm...

Stupid laws like that are part of the problem !! Criminals just ignore them and honest citizens can't protect themselves and their family. If there had been a trained armed guard with a fully automatic M16 in every school of this nation, maybe this tragedy in Connecticut could have been avoided...

I think an armed guard in every school should be as important as a school nurse. But the bleeding hearts would have a cow. Until something happens to their loved ones. Even then it happened for every reason but the fact there was no protection on the premises. The gun's fault, the NRA's fault, basically everyone elses fault except the shooter(s). This was a clear cut example of police being minutes away when seconds count. I am not beating up the LEO response either because they can't be everywhere at once.

There should be no reason any ordinary citizen should be allowed to own an assault rifle with extended mags or body armor. Gun laws as they stand right now are a joke. Anyone with a decent record can buy anything they want from a gun show and sell it privately to anyone else regardless of their records or conveniently have it "stolen". There has to be stricter more useful and common sense laws on the books.

I understand the whole second amendment and respect every citizens right however when it was written times were different. It was a means to arm and protect the new nation against the constant fear of English retaliation. Times have changed ... the amendment needs amending.

A gun just isn't the proper weapon if you want to be famous and get rid of a large amount of people. A posion gas or a few gernades would work faster and easier. If we are able to outlaw guns we provide a very good business for the outlaws, theycan forget the drugs or offer both to any lawbreaker who would like either or both. A lot of easy money to be made there. Just look at Fast and Furious.

People just pay attention to the mass shootings so may not see the glaring correlation between psychotic behavior and violent attacks that have been occurring more and more by younger people since the 90s. Look into the prescriptions involved and the clear and undeniable pattern will form right in front of your eyes.

Then consider those endless commercials you see for depression, anxiety, and ADD and at the end when they list the side effects - one of which is possible suicidal tendencies.

New gun laws will only be a waste of time as long as racism exist. The same Folks will still get guns and mass killings will continue.

No you said they were racists. Now you're calling them savages. make up your mind. Which is it ?
And if your claim is that they are racists then prove it. Have these mass killers targeted only non-whites ? Have their motives ever been proven to be racist ?

Now take the mass killer Colin Ferguson. Now there is a mass killer motivated by racism. And he admitted it.

Hey logic.....can you make a bull shot ?
