Like it or not, Cliff Lee may be the only SP option. A RH bat with power is more difficult to find...
Aroid is a power RH bat...lol

Stanton is out there. Put Betances along with other prospects (Judge/Severino) may make that idiot MIA owner think about it...

ARLINGTON, Texas - In about a week the Yankees should have a better idea if Masahiro Tanaka will pitch again for them this season. "We're still waiting for that three-week mark," Joe Girardi said.

Tanaka, diagnosed with a torn UCL in his right elbow, received a PRP (platelet-rich plasma) injection July 14 as part of a rehab process the Yankees hoped would return him to the rotation in six or seven weeks.

"Nothing's really going to change until the three-week mark," Girardi said. "He's staying back [in New York] doing treatment every day. He feels better and better, and you just kind of wait and see where you're at after three weeks."

Chasing an outfielder

The Yankees were among the teams impressed with what they saw from Rusney Castillo, a 27-year-old Cuban free agent, during a showcase Saturday that drew 28 teams. The Yankees have scheduled a private workout with the outfielder. Baseball America first reported the workout, adding the Red Sox and Phillies also scheduled private workouts. MASNSports.com reported the Orioles will work Castillo out privately as well.

Beltran getting closer

Carlos Beltran, relegated to designated hitter duties since June 4 because of a bone spur in his right elbow, could be closing in on a return to the outfield.

"He's up to 100, 120 feet," Girardi said of Beltran's throwing program. "He's obviously closer and we're trying to get him out there. He'll continue to stretch it out and increase the intensity."

Extra bases

Before the game, the Yankees called up outfielder Zoilo Almonte and designated for assignment lefthander Jeff Francis, who allowed a three-run homer to Dan Johnson in the ninth inning of Saturday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays ... Righthander Michael Pineda (right shoulder muscle) is slated to throw 45-50 pitches in a simulated game Tuesday in Tampa.... Entering Monday night, Jacob Lindgren, the club's first pick overall in this year's draft, had not allowed an earned run in four relief outings, comprising 51/3 innings, with High-A Tampa, walking four and striking out 10.

Lester's next scheduled start is tomorrow. If he's pulled, then it's obvious...

Nail biting time for real Sox fans. I think Sox managment is nuts to let him walk over $25 million, heck they spent that on bums like Drew and AJ already.

Posted a link last week from a BOS BBS where most are resigned to the possibility of Lester being moved...

Think the Beckett signing/result is spooking BOS to offer more than 5 years guaranteed...

It's insulting to Lester to compare to Beckett IMO. Lester is home grown etc

Lester off to Milwaukee before signing as a FA this offseason as a Yankee just like CC?

The Brewers, a team with a history of being aggressive at the trade deadline, is among several teams to be making a play for Red Sox ace Jon Lester.

Milwaukee, famous for acquiring CC Sabathia in July 2008, leads the NL Central by 1½ games.

The Brewers have a top young pitcher in Jimmy Nelson who could interest Boston, and some better prospects than in some recent seasons.

Milwaukee was reported to have interest in Rays star David Price by FoxSports, however Price isn't likely to be traded now that Tampa Bay is back in it. The Brewers might have an easier time competing for a rental such as Lester, anyway.

The Dodgers, Mariners, Pirates and Orioles are among other teams reported to have inquired about Lester.

Milwaukee has been very aggressive in its efforts to win in recent years under owner Mark Attanasio. Sabathia went 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA down the stretch in 2008, leading Milwaukee into the playoffs after he was acquired from Cleveland for outfiield prospect Michael Brantley and slugger Matt LaPorta.

Not sure about alot less, but certainly somewhat less...

STL may be in play for Lester if they're willing to part with Oscar Taveras...

That’s reality. You don’t use the words that I get a free pass. You don’t get a free pass on this. MLB don’t play that B.S. MLB don’t play that. There’s a reason why I’ve been drug-tested like eight times and we’re not even at the (All-Star) break. Is that a free pass? There’s a reason why I’ve been tested like 40 times since they approved the policy, the drug policy. Is that a free pass? They can get that free pass and shove it up their ass.”

8 times this season 40 all up all clean

like the big guy says you can shove it
