Part of the formula when scouting...
Ironic the draft was put in place in 1965 to level set the playing field for the rest of the baseball teams after the Yankees prolonged dynasty. But the biggie to me was how the National League teams were smart enough to recurit the latin players before the AL Teams did.

Another of the infamous picks from Damon the Dope. His family told all MLB teams he was going to UCLA. NYY thought they could pay him a bonus similar to a top 5-10 pick...
"I mean obviously when you get called on draft day, it’s really exciting and it was a tremendous honor to be selected by such a prestigious organization, but I wouldn’t call saying no a joy. That’s the way that my family and I had planned on going - to UCLA. You never want to say ‘no’ or give the impression that I was throwing it in their face or anything like that, because that’s not what it was about"

I remember this well......there was some chit chat with Boras at that time also who was his agent.

If the Cubs ate enough of Soriano's contract bet the Yankees would take him. He might just give them a good 100 at bats coming back to the Yankees

Not just the latin players, but all minority players. AL had some owners who weren't comfortable to integrate...

International signings coming off the boards quick now...still no word on a Yankees move...even trading away draft money could be seen as a positive if they can work in Joba for a everyday player...

Top IFA Eloy Jimenez still up for grabs...

O's trading Pedro Strop to CHC could backfire although his numbers were marginal across the board he absolutly owned the Red Sox...

Love to see another LacKKKKKKKKKKKKy outing like his last...
