Until this nation speaks the truth about race relations, we will repeat this time and time again. The truth I speak about is that of white priveledge, white terror and white denial. White people in this country live in a self delusional bubble. This bubble gives them a false sense of reality. One knows that this reality is false because of the white communties silence when violence is brought upon blacks. Or when white people by and large support a war based on lies. This gives the white community a sense of security. Or should I say false security.

As a black woman, it is disturbing to me that Sharpton and Company only make themselves heard when it is a black man being shot by cops. The message they are sending to the public is that violence is ok within our community as long as we are the ones killing each other!!! They need to focus their energy on how we stop violence among ourselves because there is enough of that going on (which is why there is often heavy police presence in our neighborhoods). They need to focus their energies on how to get black men to work with the police to fight crime and get rid of that RIDICULOUS "don't snitch" notion that many of us uphold. They need to focus their energies on helping to make our young mothers better parents (because many of the people that commit crimes are from troubled homes). They need to focus their energies on having better role models for teenagers, not the rappers you see on tv speaking of nothing but violence and how much money they make. We have a plethora of things going on within our community alone that NEED IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. Let's spend time working on that!!! We are often afraid to put up a mirror to ourselves and take a look at the flaws of our OWN conduct. Now, as tragic as the Sean Bell case is, in order to understand the judges decision, we need to take a step back at look at this case objectively and isolated from all other similar cases,(this WAS NOT ABOUT RACISM). Put yourself not only in the shoes of Bell's friends but also in the shoes of the cops for a moment (if even just a moment). I'm sure many of you saying the cops should be jailed would have probably done the same or similar given their circumstances but of course, everyone loves to run off at the mouth about things they've never experienced or don't fully understand!! My heart goes out to ALL of the families involved in this case. This was an extremely tough case and there are truly no winners here. Judge Cooperman had an extremely difficult decision to make and I respect it! What happened on 11/25/06 was no doubt tragic but the involved cops are NOT criminals. They left their homes that day with an intent to do a job and they have to live each day knowing they killed an unarmed man. Not to mention the family that has to live with the lost of their loved one. Again, no matter how you see it everyone loses here. Yes, even the police!!

That last commentis exactly what's wrong in this country. Unless you're a decendant of Native Americans (Indians for the redneck above) then maybe we should all go back to where we came from. Two of the cops are black the one who emptied his gun, reloaded & emptied it again is white. Just like Diallo another young man is dead for no reason & no one is paying for the crime. White kid gets shot trespassing & threatening a man's son & LI whites are up in arms because they feel the man didn't get a long enough sentence??? What's wrong with this picture???

If this were a white family that shot this kid, Sharpton would be rioting from here to eternity talking bout why did this man bring a gun out in the first place. If there is a problem someone on your property (with no gun at that) YOU CALL THE POLICE, you dont come outside with a f$%%ing gun!! But there you go with DOUBLE STANDARDS. You can have one standards for our group and another for every other race and they want equality. It don't work like that!!

I don't know all of the facts in this case BUT leave out Sharpton - he always takes personal advantage out of someone's tragedy. He is just a profesional protester and has made a very comfortable life for himself.

Everyone is a Police Officer. Everyone wants to know what a Police Officer go's through in a difficult situation. The split second decisions He or She has to make.
Why don't we put Sharpton and Friends through the NYPD Police Academy and then on the streets. In some of the toughest neighborhoods in the city and then maybe he can really understand what is like instead of saying 50 bullets is excessive. He wasn't there he didn't see what happened and he didn't have to go home to his family after a dangers tour.

You and people like you are what is wrong with the picture. Sharpton and the Bell families and the other dirt holes who were involved in this are all positioning for a big pay off. Bell and friends are criminals. This black man was a drug dealer and he is the one responsible for his own demise. The jusdge made the right decision according to NYS law. The cops were justified and just because jerks like you aren't happy with that, you think there should be special prosecutors. Bull. Where were all of you folks when OJ Simpson got off with the murder of two white people? That was OK, wasn't it. These cops - two of whom were Black - were doing their jobs and I am glad they were found not guilty.

What could you possibly be proud of? Your hubcap collection.
