The Mental Health Industry has no science, No medical model, No evidence based medicine and no test for chemical imbalance to which the APA admitted a lie in 2007 to drug the population. The industry is based on hearsay and is political since the Republican Bush Sr presidency..

Why the governor would dramatically increase the number of beds in the facility has to be political with questionable motive...

Psychiatric Diagnosis: Too Little Science, Too Many Conflicts of Interest [i]

Paula J. Caplan, Ph.D.

Harvard University

Snip:

The Concerns

There is a lot of pain and suffering in the world, and it is tempting to believe that the mental health community knows how to help. It is widely believed, both by mental health professionals and the general population, that if only a person gets the right psychiatric diagnosis, the therapist will know what kind of measures will be the most helpful. Unfortunately, that is not usually the case, and getting a psychiatric diagnosis can often create more problems than it solves, including a lifetime of being labeled, difficulties with obtaining affordable (or any) health insurance (due to now having a pre-existing condition), loss of employment, loss of child custody, the overlooking of physical illnesses and injuries because of everything being attributed to psychological factors, and the loss of the right to make decisions about one’s medical and legal affairs. The creation and use of psychiatric diagnosis, unlike, for instance, psychiatric drugs, is not overseen by any regulatory body, and rarely does anyone raise the question of what role the assignment of a psychiatric label has played in creating problems for individuals.[ii]

The Problematic History

These serious limitations have not prevented the authors of the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), sometimes known as “the therapist’s Bible,” from making expansive claims about their knowledge and authority and wielding enormous power to decide who will and will not be called mentally ill and what the varieties of alleged mental illness will be. The DSM’s current edition is called DSM-IV-TR, and it was preceded by the original DSM (in 1952), then DSM-II (1968), DSM-III (1980), DSM-III-R (Third Edition Revised)(1987), DSM-IV (1994), and DSM-IV-TR (2000). The DSM-V is currently in preparation and slated for 2013 publication. Each time a new edition appears, the media ask whichever psychiatrist is the lead editor why a new edition was necessary, and like clockwork, each editor replies that it was because the previous edition really wasn’t scientific (Caplan, 1995). And each time a new edition appears, it contains many more categories than does the previous one. For instance, DSM-III-R contained 297 categories, and DSM-IV contained 374 (Caplan, 1995).

I served as an advisor to two of the DSM-IV committees, before resigning due to serious concerns after witnessing how fast and loose they play with the scientific research related to diagnosis (Caplan, 1995). The DSM is widely used, not only in the mental health system, but also in general medical practice, in schools, and in the courts. I have been involved since 1985 in trying to alert both therapists and the public to the manual’s unscientific nature and the dangers that believing in its objectivity poses. Since then, I have watched with interest a national trend toward gradually increasing openness to the idea that psychiatric diagnosis (A)is largely unscientific,(B)is highly subjective and political, and (C)can cause untold harm, ranging from the patients’ lowered self-confidence to loss of custody of children to loss of health insurance (because any psychiatric label can be considered evidence of a pre-existing condition) to loss of the right to make decisions about their medical and legal affairs.

Inside the Battle to Define Mental Illness

Every so often Al Frances says something that seems to surprise even him. Just now, for instance, in the predawn darkness of his comfortable, rambling home in Carmel, California, he has broken off his exercise routine to declare that “there is no definition of a mental disorder. It’s bullshit. I mean, you just can’t define it.” Then an odd, reflective look crosses his face, as if he’s taking in the strangeness of this scene: Allen Frances, lead editor of the fourth edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (universally known as the DSM-IV), the guy who wrote the book on mental illness, confessing that “these concepts are virtually impossible to define precisely with bright lines at the boundaries.” For the first time in two days, the conversation comes to an awkward halt.

Death rates from psychiatry are rising

Pasted from < http://www.examiner.com/health-in-national/de... ;

The exact figures are difficult to determine, but clearly death rates from the "American Psychiatric Industry of Enslavement, Torture and Death" are on the rise. As the nation fights hard daily to avoid a catastrophic depression the most professional leeches of society have turned out to be the psychiatrists who as usual claim just about anything, if not everything, that goes wrong in life for other people is due to psychiatric illness.
It is getting pathetic with psychiatrists now claiming over 50% of the nation is mentally ill. Failing businesses and personal finances based on parameters which are often out of control of individuals, particularly in such erratic economic conditions, as are the to be anticipated normal feelings of despair from such difficult conditions, are blamed on mental illness by the psychiatrists.
The same problem exists in dealing with psychiatrists in other walks of life such as school when variables that have nothing at all to do with psychiatric illness or lack of intelligence are nevertheless labeled as being due to mental illness by the psychiatrists when students and teachers together do not perform as well as they are capable of performing. Other real life factors which should be considered in such instances are poor nutrition, lack of adequate sleep and exercise, drug and alcohol abuse, cheating by some students which throws off normal grading curves, poor testing procedures and conditions, and other non-psychiatric factors.

And so today as usual millions of people across the United States are suffering in pain and dying from the horrible side effects of the poisonous arsenal of psychiatric drugs, beatings, and other abuses in the mental hospital concentration camps, unemployment, blacklists, poverty, isolation and homelessness associated with psychiatric stigmatization which is harshly enforced by the psychiatrists themselves. And all along most of the victims of psychiatry have been misdiagnosed with mental illness to begin with and could have lead independent, healthy and productive lives if not for the psychiatrists.
To make matters worse our lawmakers in all 50 states allow the psychiatrists and other non-psychiatric physicians they work alongside to legalize this tyranny daily with swift, fixed civil court proceedings with no juries and no sworn in testimony before crooked county judges the psychiatrists work closely with. The unethical judges who preside at these sham poceedings are getting a free ride in life by helping the psychiatrists implement their tyranny for huge profits.
As for those poor souls who may in fact be afflicted with some type of mental illness, they clearly are generally also not being diagnosed or treated properly and they too could have generally lead independent, healthy and productive lives with no psychiatric stigmatization with the right type of natural mental health care intervention. Sadly all of the abuses associated with psychiatric stigmatization are generally enforced not just by the psychiatrists, but also by the justice departments worldwide.
In many instances even perfectly sane people who admit guilt to crimes, which are often petty in nature, and would like to have been offered the opportunity to simply have settled properly with society and move on in life are nevertheless tormented, tortured and slowly murdered by the psychiatrists. In many other instances people are being crucified by the like-minded diabolically insane psychiatrists for nothing more than their sins in life.

What has the Republican intentions been since Bush Sr introduction of Prozac and all the laws altering socciety?

The Mental Health Parity Scam

Snip:

President Bush, in yet another slap at the free-enterprise system, wants to force health-insurance companies to cover mental illnesses in the way they cover bodily illnesses. This is known as “mental-health parity.”

According to the Washington Post, the psychiatrists in the audience applauded when Bush made his announcement. No kidding. They stand to reap big bucks if such legislation passes.
By what authority does the federal government order insurance companies to provide a particular kind of coverage? I thought we believe in capitalism in this country. There is nothing to prevent buyers and sellers of health insurance from bargaining to include any services they want. Some policies already include psychiatric services. Why is coercion advocated?

Because the price of the coverage is higher than people want to pay, and these days if you can’t get something you want through persuasion, you turn to force—more precisely, you ask the government to do it for you.

There Are No "Chemical Imbalances"

by Eaton T. Fores

snip:

"Today’s patients, discontented, unhappy, fragmented and confused by an increasingly frantic, alienating and violent society, come to psychiatrists for help, only to have their illusions shored up by an increased dose of a technologic fix. They are told they have illnesses that are biologic and can be fixed, instead of being allowed to speak about their unhappiness, to speak about how difficult it is to be a human being, to speak about their suffering, because human beings have always suffered and always will. To believe that we can conquer depression, despair, anxiety with modern technology is the height of hubris and bad faith, a mere childish fantasy, unworthy of any thoughtful person who has their eyes open to human history and modern culture."

– David Kaiser, M.D. Northwestern University Hospital, Chicago, IL, Psychiatric Medications as Symptoms, February, 1997

"No biological etiology has been proven for any psychiatric disorder in spite of decades of research.... Don't accept the myth that we can make an 'accurate diagnosis.'... Neither should you believe that your problems are due solely to a 'chemical imbalance.'"

There Are No "Chemical Imbalances"

APA lies to the American Public and puts the society in danger

http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp...

No test for chemical imbalance. No medical model and no evident based medicine in psychiatry.

The fraud has been going on for more then 30 years since H W Bush was CEO, Eli Lilly and before in his VP under the Reagan Presidency when the essential Amino Acid "Tryptophan" was limited in the food chain and Prozac entered the market place. Lots of people compromised under the fraud of mental health services with made to order mental illnesses with mind altering drugs as the capitalist solution. The Republican ALEC solution.

There Are No "Chemical Imbalances"

"The hypothetical disturbances of neurochemical function that are said to underlie "mental illness" are just that: hypothetical. No experiment has ever shown that anyone has an "imbalance" of any neurotransmitters or any other brain chemicals. Nor could any conceivable experiment demonstrate the existence of a "chemical imbalance," simply because no one, least of all the biopsychiatrists, has the slightest idea what a proper and healthy chemical "balance" would look like."

"...the views and beliefs of biopsychiatry have nothing to do with the answers to scientific questions in any case: the hunt for biological "causes" of "mental illness" is an entirely fallacious enterprise in the first place; the non- existence of data to support its assertions is quite beside the point."

"The latest edition of one pharmacology text has this to say about the status of depression as a disease: "Despite extensive efforts, attempts to document the metabolic changes in human subjects predicted by these [biological] hypotheses have not, on balance, provided consistent or compelling corroboration." This is a long-winded way of admitting that not even a scrap of evidence supports the idea that depression results from a "chemical imbalance." Yet patients are told every day - by their doctors, by the media, and by drug company advertising - that it is a proven scientific fact that depression has a known biochemical origin. It follows directly that millions of Americans are being lied to by their doctors; and people surely can't give informed consent for drug treatment when what they're being "informed" by is a fraud.... To sum up: there is no evidence whatsoever to support the view that "mental illness" is biochemical in origin; in other words, things like "Unipolar Disorder" and "Attention Deficit Disorder" simply do not exist."

Brain Stains: Traumatic therapies can have long-lasting effects on mental health

http://mnemosynosis.livejournal.com/12980.htm...

A wave of nausea washed over Sheri J. Storm when she opened the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on a February morning a decade ago and saw the headline:“Malpractice lawsuit: Plaintiff tells horror of memories. Woman emotionally testifies that psychiatrist planted false recollections.” The woman in the article shared a lot with Storm—the same psychiatrist, the same memories, the same diagnosis of multiple personality disorder. At that moment, Storm suddenly realized that her own illness and 200-plus personalities, though painfully real to her, were nothing more than a figment of her imagination—created by her trusted therapist, Kenneth Olson.

Storm initially sought treatment from Olson because of insomnia and anxiety associated with divorce proceedings and a new career in radio advertising. She had hoped for an antidepressant prescription or a few relaxation techniques. But after enduring hypnosis sessions, psychotropic medications and mental-ward hospitalizations, Storm had much more to worry about than stress. She had “remembered” being sexually abused by her father at the age of three and forced to engage in bestiality and satanic ritual abuse that included the slaughtering and consumption of human babies. According to her psychiatrist, these traumatic experiences had generated alternative personalities, or alters, within Storm’s mind.

Storm is now convinced that her multiple personality disorder was iatrogenic, the product of her “therapy.” But years after the psychiatric sessions have ceased, she is still tormented by vivid memories, nightmares and physical reactions to cues from her fictitious past. Although she was told that the false memories would fade over time, she has had a difficult time purging these “brain stains” from the fabric of her mind.

Storm’s case is similar to those of many other patients who underwent recovered-memory therapy that revealed sordid histories of sexual abuse and demonic ceremonies. Although the scientific literature suggests that traumatic events are rarely, if ever, repressed or forgotten, this type of therapy was widespread in the 1990s and is still practiced today. Only after several high-profile lawsuits did the American Medical Association issue warnings to patients about the unreliability of recovered memories. Nadean Cool, the patient described in the newspaper story that turned Storm’s life upside down, filed one such lawsuit. Cool received a $2.4-million settlement after 15 days of courtroom testimony. Amid the heated controversy, the American Psychiatric Association discontinued the diagnostic category of multiple personality disorder, replacing it with the slightly different diagnosis of dissociative identity disorder.

The Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination does not prohibit disclosure to the government, during the guilt phase of a trial, of the results of a court-ordered mental examination.

September 21, 1998

MEMORANDUM FOR THE ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL CRIMINAL DIVISION

This memorandum responds to the Criminal Division's request, conveyed by Roger A. Pauley, for our opinion whether certain limitations on the disclosure of results of a court-ordered mental examination in a capital case are required to protect a defendant's Fifth Amendment privilege against compelled self-incrimination. In particular, the limitations would prevent disclosure, during the guilt phase of a capital trial, of the results of a mental examination ordered upon a defendant's notice of intent to introduce evidence of a mental condition bearing upon sentencing. As discussed below, principally because the Fifth Amendment's privilege against self-incrimination protects against the prosecution's direct or indirect use of compelled statements in a criminal case, not against the prosecution's possession of or access to such statements, we do not believe that a rule lacking such limitations would be facially defective. Nevertheless, in any given case, adherence to such limitations may aid the prosecution in establishing that, during the guilt phase of a capital trial, it made no use of statements, or the fruits of statements, obtained through a court-ordered mental examination of the defendant.

Historic Precedent

In the momentous article "Medical Science Under Dictator-ship," Dr. Leo Alexander, the chief U.S. medical consultant at the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials, examined "the process by which the German medical profession became a willing and unquestioning collaborator with the Nazis." He noted the early changes in medical attitudes that predisposed German physicians to first collect data on their patients to conduct what today we call "cost-effective analysis," and then to use the latter information as a vehicle to commit medical genocide under the auspices of the totalitarianism of National Socialism.
Dr. Alexander warns us that "from small beginnings" the values of an entire society may be subverted, leading to the horrors of a police state.
The "small beginnings" in Nazi Germany that Dr. Alexander referred to first led the physicians to collect data from their patients and then violate their patients' privacy and medical record confidentiality by supplying the information to the state.(6)
Organizations with humanitarian-sounding names were set up in Nazi Germany to institute "health" programs, under deceptive, euphemistic terms.
For example, questionnaires collected by a "Realm's Work Committee of Institutions for Cure and Care" gathered and reported information on patients who had been ill five years or more and who were unable to work.
"On the basis of name, race, marital status, nationality, next of kin, whether regularly visited and by whom, who bore financial responsibility, and so forth," decisions were ultimately made for the patient euthanasia program heralded by the Nazi government for the good of the state and the "health of the nation."
The first steps taken toward barbarism were the result of the physicians' willingness to participate in patient data collection and the violation of medical privacy. "Corrosion," as Dr. Alexander wrote, "begins in microscopic proportions."
German physicians were, more than any other profession, heavily represented in the Nazi Party, which they joined in droves.
German psychiatrists were no exception, and they also enthusiastically supported Nazi Germany's gun control laws of 1938 that disarmed the civilian population and left a monopoly of force in the hands of the German military and the SS.
The rest, as we say, is history.

AMA Becomes Political

As to the commitment of the AMA to weakening medical privacy and individual-based ethics in favor of population-based ethics and achieve a partnership with government, there is no longer any doubt.(7,8)
In the case of the American Psychiatric Association, one only has to peruse its position statement on homicide prevention and gun control promulgated by its leadership as early as 1993: "In view of the need to reinforce individual and group sanctions against the use of violence as a social instrument, behavioral mode, or adaptorional [sic] pattern, as psychiatrists have done with drug abuse, suicidal actions, and antisocial behavior, the American Psychiatric Association recommends that strong controls be placed on the availability of all types of firearms to private citizens."(9)
Why would the AMA and organized medicine become involved in this politically expedient but potentially explosive issue of gun control and condone the systematic violation of the privacy of vulnerable patients?

Psychiatrists admit they created the euthanasia program and ideology that fueled Hitlers holocaust

Pasted from < http://scientologyagainstdrugs.wordpress.com/... ;

snip:

In examining the basis of Nazism’s social and political philosophy, one cannot help but notice the role that psychiatry played in promulgating the hatred, racism, and elitism that permeated German society during Hitler’s era. Even before Hitler’s rise to power, the nihilism of Nietzsche, Darwin, Malthus, and others contributed greatly to the framework of National Socialism.
From the days of WWI, psychiatry allied itself with the German military, creating an environment that treated the foot soldiers that suffered from shell shock, post traumatic stress, and battle fatigue as mentally inferior, and subjected them to sadistic treatments, all in the name of science. Soon racist theory and psychiatric theory merged into an unholy alliance that was enthusiastically embraced by Hitler and his rising party, giving an air of scientific legitimacy to the atrocities that were eventually committed during Nazi rule.
In 1895 Dr. Alfred Ploetz first published the “scientific” basis for what would become the Nazi racial hygiene program. His idea of controlling genetic characteristics inspired a whole generation of psychiatrists to create genetic guidelines that determined the biological value of a human being. His theories led to the systematic murder of entire segments of society as racial cleansing became the means to creating the superior Aryan ideal.
Through the acquisition of political power, Hitler and his party were able to legislate additional venues of racial cleansing, especially euthanasia, as a “humane” means to end the life of those with physical deformities, mental defects, and incurable illnesses. As the government continued to push the “humanity” of these laws, German society began to accept the twisted logic behind it. Also helping was the giant Nazi propaganda machine, which reiterated the message daily.
The scientists, physicians, and psychiatrists of early 20th century Germany abandoned the main rule of medicine – first do no harm. Sadly these ideas did not perish with the Nazi regime. At the end of WWII, the OSS (the forerunner to the CIA) began to smuggle into the United States many of the men in the German scientific community, ostensibly to keep Russia from co-opting their talents. Several of these doctors and psychiatrists became the personal physicians of American presidents during their terms in office, influencing public policy in medicine and education. Some found their way into the military and the CIA, performing unethical experiments on soldiers and United States citizens, all in the name of science.
And today we see their influence in medicine and bioethics. Doctors and psychiatrists with mindsets no different than those in Hitler’s Germany are pushing to the forefront of American society the ideas of euthanasia and quality of life in terms of a person’s value to society. Our educational institutions, from elementary to college level, are offering curricula in “Values Clarification”,“Moral Reasoning”,“Death Education”, and “Bioethics”, to name a few - all designed to improve the “mental health” of the next generation. It is a chilling reminder of the deliberate programming visited upon the German children by the Nazi party in the 1930s.

APA Admits there is no test for "chemical imbalance"

American Psychiatric Association admitted it lied to the American Public

Biopsychiatry Illuminated

THE CANDLELIGHT PROJECT by Bob Collier

29 September 2003 Issue 61

This week, a few representative excerpts from an article that I discovered on my internet travels only a matter of days ago, concerning the area in which biopsychiatry has, it seems to me, most comprehensively misled the world at large.

Please go to the website linked to below the excerpts and read the complete article. Then you will not be bamboozled should a doctor, teacher, journalist, ad man, politician, family member, friend, some bloke in your local pub, or whoever, start waffling on at you about 'mental illness' being caused by 'chemical imbalances' in the brain. You will know better!

"The latest edition of one pharmacology text has this to say about the status of depression as a disease: "Despite extensive efforts, attempts to document the metabolic changes in human subjects predicted by these [biological] hypotheses have not, on balance, provided consistent or compelling corroboration." This is a long-winded way of admitting that not even a scrap of evidence supports the idea that depression results from a "chemical imbalance."
