I've been an RN for alittle over a year now I did hospital nursing for 9 months and hated it because I was so overwhelmed all the time, I dont mind working night shift temporarily but I don't want to do it for the rest of my life. I tried a nursing home and it was even worse the hosiptal day shift. I am looking for a monday through friday job with 8 hrs shifts. I cant make enough money to cover my student loans working as a dr office nurse. I am thinking about going back to school to be a nurse pracitioner in a doctors office, but I was curious about the stress level?? I dont want to invest more money in a career I am unhappy with. I am mostly concerned about workload and being overwhelmed. I am just curious what you experience on a day to day basises in addition to your examining patients. I would really appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks in advance

i think there are programs online where you can further your education, it wont be that hard to adjust on your schedules. and if you want a specific shift or working days, that's very hard for a regular nurse but agency nurses can choose their own schedule for work however, it's hard to land a job with agencies these days since hospitals prefer full time workers

I'm an R.N. who also has put in my time in hospitals, it is hard, stressful work. I have been staying at home with the kids these last few years, but am looking to return to work and trying to figure out how to slow the pace down and was considering N.P. It seems doctor offices or clinics either want LPNs or NPs. RNs seem to be stuck with high stress hospital work.

since being an RN is a stressful yet fulfilling job. you should plan your moves carefully.
