Veterans Want Their LTV
When a television was removed from the lobby of the Paramus Veterans Memorial Home at 1 Veterans Drive after 20 years, Ramsey resident Karen Freitag Heffler, the daughter of one of the residents, started an online petition to have it returned.

I had heard the rumors that Ms Tabron-Felder now states as fact. That is why I contacted her personally. Her reasons for the TV removal, as she wrote in her response to me, were " As you can certainly attest to when visiting the Home, the Reception Area was always congested and the increased noise level made it extremely difficult to communicate in a normal tone. "
Congested?? Only when the Residents are waiting on their "chow line", to get into the dining room. Loud? Never. Henry will occasionally lead the others in an impromptu singalong. I find it heartwarming. Thank goodness these Vets have a little bit of fun and can share memories.
We are not talking about a mob scene. It's a handful of Vets that want to gather and watch a game. The lobby setup has been exactly the same for over 20 years. The new multipurpose room is locked all weekend as well as before 5pm every day. No news, no football, nothing.
I don't think for one minute that that was a safety issue. Ms Tabron-Felder told me that "Your support in assisting our residents accept this change is appreciated. " Accept this change? No thanks. She wants me to assist the residents as "we transition into our new mulitipurpose room". That might be okay if they could transition. It's closed! They used to be able to watch football as buddies. Now they are forbidden. It's appalling.
