I don't understand it, because it was working perfectly fine for a few years, and then it suddenly quit working a few months ago.

I uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times. I changed various settings on both pc's.

Then, I finally decided that perhaps because the 2 pc's I loaded it on were running XP, which is kind of an old OS, but I like it, that perhaps Google had changed things so that Google Earth needed a newer more robust OS.

So I bought pc #5 on ebay the other day because it has Windows 7 installed. Still no luck.:(

I'm pc-literate, but only to a point, and I cannot determine WHY Google Earth will no longer run on 2 pc's, plus now the latest one I bought, which I really only bought to run Google Earth.

I also paid a pc guy to look at it, but I was more knowledgable than that idiot !(And why are these self-proclaimed pc gurus ALWAYS more than 410 pounds ???!!!)

So, I aint happy that Google Earth no longer works on any of these 3 pc's, and I simply cannot determine why. Especially because it worked fine for years on 2 of the older pc's with XP.

So now I have 2 pc's running running XP, 1 running Vista, 1 running Ubuntu Linux, and the latest one running W7. And i STILL like XP the best !

If I could get Google Earth runing on just one of them like it used to, I'd get rid of 2 of teh pc's. Five is obviously too many. Two too many.

Anybody wanna help me with this ? There's gotta be at least one guru here.

Lemme know.

PEACE !

Yeah, with 4 cats, I have problems a lot with kittys on the keyboard. I had to build a barrier out of a bunch of paper towel cardboard tubes.

It WAS working fine for years on PC #1 and PC#2, both of which are still runing XP. But it quit working on both pc's for unknown reasons, and i unistalled it and re-installed it a few times on both pc's wih no change. So I bought this other pc off ebay the other day, running Windows 7 because I thought perhaps they upgraded Google Earth so much that I needed an updated and more robust OS. But it crashes that pc. On the other 2, the program crashes, but not the pc's. So I bought another pc just for Google Earth but it still isn't working.

What do you think I should check and what do you think I should do to get it working again ?

btw, the pc with Windows 7 has NO other software on the har drive.

What do you think ?

Thanks.

Sure, be glad to help.

Get a couple big boxes. Throw the computers in them and haul them to a recycling center. Grab your checkbook and stop by a store that sells Apple products and buy yourself an iPad with G4 and call AT&T for their $10 a month plan. Problem solved

You of course are so stuck in the last century you'll come up with multiple reasons not to do it so go screw yourself and take your bitching elsewhere. PCs are so yesterday for the home user.

The last time I used an Apple product was when I was using an Apple II with a 40 column monochrome monitor in the early 80's. I'm very anti-Apple, and would never touch any of their products.

I've got 5 pc's (2 too many now) and I'm strctly a pc-guy. They all work fine with the sole exception of this Google Earth problem. I'm guessing now that it's a video driver incompatibility, but I don't know how to narrow it down. I've researched it on the web, and I've found that I'm certainly not the only person to experience this problem with Google Earth.

It's just very frustrating. I bought the latest pc with Windows 7 just for Google Earth, thinking it was an OS problem, but still no luck.:(

Well, that's kinda harsh, isn't it? Everyone has tech preferences. a tablet works for you; others like pc's. PC's don't have to be recharged, for one thing.

I still have a VCR. Too old-fashioned? I have about 80 movies on tape that have never been released on dvd. I've converted many other tapes to disc but many are protected from copying. Should I junk everything and hope they release them some day?

Generally I use IE, like now, but I also have FireFox and Chrome on here which I do use sometimes.

I think Google updated one or more things in Google Earth leading to an incompatibility problem with the video driver. Every other program on these 5 pc's work fine. Only Google Earth no longer works, although it worked fine for years on the 2 pc's with XP.

I'll have to find somebody nearby who is more knowledgable about this stuff than I. That idiot I hired certainly wasn't. I knew more than he did, and was explaining things to him, His response "I better call my dad and ask him !(I kid you not !)

Two things.

Contact Google Earth about the problem.
Contact your graphics card manufacturer about the problem.

I'm still waiting for answers. lol

That's why I was using Linux for awhile. ANd about 99% of the sites I go to are news sites anyway like The New York Post and The New York Daily News, and Fox News, so I don't think I have to worry about malware from them.(although I do go to cutieboysrus.com from time to time. WOO-HOO !:))
