My mother trained and worked here in the late 1980's as a staff nurse. i have fond memories of the grounds picking acorns from the trees and waiting with my dad to pick mum up from her shift. Unfortunately my grandmother was a patient here and died in 1987 at the hospital. It is a part of my life and i will miss it.

My dad died in this hospital 20yrs ago and its sad that the place he spent his last minutes is now a luxury housing estate, it was a good hospital

My late wife trained as a nurse here. I still have many happy memories of the dances in the nurses' home, and the young doctors smuggling in bottles of vodka and whisky, as the matron, Annie Spense, diapproved of alcohol.

I was a student nurse at Ballochmyle in the 60s these were happy times, living in the nurses home was lots of fun. We respected the Matron Miss Spence, I think because we were afraid of her.

I completed my nurse training there 1988 to 1991 and have a great deal of fond memories from the place- the parties where famous and far better than the ones at Crosshouse.

I was a patient at Ballochmyle Hospital as a child in the fifties and early sixties. My ward overlooked the nurses' home. I remember playing on the veranda attached to the ward.On your way to the theatre, you would be reassured, by being told you were going to see Mickey Mouse! I have fond memories of Ballochmyle and recently visited. I took a walk down memory lane towards the nurses' home and along the main entrance to the gate. I picked some Scot's Pine cones, the seeds of which I am going to plant to remind me of my childhood and the lovely people I met there. One lovely person in particular, was plastic surgeon, Doctor Mustardy.

My main memories were of we nurses walking the short distance into Mauchline to have a coffeee in the Cafe and of our impromptu music nights in the recreation hall where there was a grand piano which I loved to play. I gave up my nursing course midway through to join and to travel to Germany with a pop band. Names of fellow nurses I recall fondly were Kate Girvan and Joy Major - my two girlfriends. I hope they qualified and prospered.

I was a house physician in medicine at Ballochmyle in the first half of 1982. The two consultants I trained with were Dr. Cambpell-Ferguson and Reynolds. I wonder is anyone remember those days and would care to reminisce with me. Best regards to you all.
