as everyone knows that pt profession is new growing profession in India and India needs pt in quantity. due to good work pt mbbs and hospitals have less patients related to pt and most patients are arguing that it is better to visit a pt if you have back pain, tennis elbow or other that kind of problems. pt studies for same duration as other doctor studies. if your question mark is on that....that pt is not a doctor ....then i wish to say that an mms, bams, bhms, bums, bds, are also not a doctors until they have md or ms,. a pt, can use prefix of dr but also use suffix pt or mt. i am also doing BPT. it is my first year
if you like this truth then raise your hands if not then raise your standard to accept the truth.

Different people can be called as a doctor.(those people who have earned PhD) Dentists, Lawyers, etc.
I think Physiotherapists are not physicians. and not doctors.

I am a MBBS doctor in Ortho department. I am Proud in Physiotherapy profession . Most of my patients are respect physiotherapists more than me. because they believe in physio and they spend more time with patients than doctors. And one thing i comment here " All Proffession are Good If you are Talented" according to your Skill you paid more and you reach at top . Proffesion is not a problem. MBBS,BDS,BPT,B.Pharm,Nursing all are good course. If you have skill in any one , you can reach to the top.

Well someone is a "Doctor" or not depends on his/her learning.
(as doctor derived from Latin 'doctror' means "a religious teacher, adviser or scholar")

What I said above is correct from philosophical point of view.
But as we see these days philosophists don't judge us anymore, the Courts do.

So what I say on the topic is that, let the Honourable Supreme Court of India decide who is a "Doctor".

AND
To me I'll be a "Doctor" the day I complete my 4 1/2 years of academics, 1 year hospital internship & 1 year compulsory rural posting.

For BPT guys I'll say - Fight for your Right. But first of all please confirm your Rights. Otherwise it will be a worthless Fight !!!

Now,there is Dpt. degree which means '' Doctor of physical therapy''. Physiotherapists r ''Doctors of therapy'' as MD. are ''Doctor of medicine''.And America, the super power has introduced this degree. So, no one can deny it's worth.Physiotherapy treats those problems in front of which medicines fail to cure. And there is also pharm.D which means ''Doctor of Pharmacy'' who are the persons that invent medicines. So,Medical doctors just cram those medicines invented by pharmacists and treat people. So,there is equal importance and role of every profession.
THANKS.

How can MCI 1956 act be applicable on AYUSH/Dental? Practicing medicine is a wide term. In short since PT uses medicines in varied iontophoresis procedures, will that be considered as practicing medicine? or do a MBBS would be regulating the dose in that procedure (sounds funny).
As a matter of fact, everything is related to pay scale. BDS was included at par with mbbs in fourth pay scale, which AYUSH is still trying to achieve. However, since AYUSH practices indigenous medicines it is given status quo with MBBS even when it is evident from all other means (Not meant to defame of AYUSH here).
Also, RTI tells that if a person is not Phd, or DM, is unworthy of the prefic Dr. However to grant respect, the same shall be used. This is used in major (I say, as we look upon them for all great and petty issues) countries.
Also, lot of countries have separate process of recognize doctor in PT, and the "babble" should be stopped as there must be always a team work.
So, as soon as government decides to bring in PT in the same pay slab/ job category (pending since fourth/fifth pay scale -1987/1994. please validate), this whole fight if not end, will be left for non intellectuals.
To clarify, I was a Physio. Do practice, but as a social service.

Dear Friends,

I am a physiotherapist, and when I talk and introduce myself, I always use "Mr." because I believe that arguments always arise where one party favors and the other party contradicts. To me, what matters is helping out people by applying the physiotherapy as a science. In india, physiotherapy might have gone from bad to worse, the seniors sitting in the top notch management position are all old and dont give enough chances to the young, energetic population, the truth that well remains unchangeable is that... Young upcoming physio need good mentoring where they learn the practicality and science from their mentors directly. It is not how many you treat in a day, but how you treat every one of them.. Quality needs to be ascertained to prevent physiotherapy from loosing its importance.

Somebody did point out correctly that is all just about moving hands & legs... but there is also loads of research that can be done...
If clinical part bores you.. please also think about going into research based practice...

MAKE PHYSIOTHERAPY FUN.. GET PH.D AND THEN PUT "DR"..

THEN NOBODY WILL BE IN THE POSITION TO QUESTION YOUR DESIGNATION...
