Being a physiotherapist myself, I feel that unless there is
a legislation we cannot safely call ourselves doctors. We have to fight

program.

I have realized that your work speaks more than words and respect is shown when it materializes. This Dr. DISCUSSION should be put aside and the medical fraternity should be shown the fruitful results and scope of physiotherapy. In all developed countries there is equal respect for every profession because they do evidence based practice.Physio. are primary care practitioners in most countries which is a commendable achievement.

We physios are an important team member in rehabilitation. can any medico or M.D or Dr can treat as we treat. We are also equally serving patients as an allopathy Dr works. BDS fellows who read only about Dental problems are also getting Dr. degree. But we are even more professional and knowledgeful than them, so why can't we have Dr in our name which we deserve and we are equivalent to you.

hellow miss reena we dint spend lakhs to crores to buy a medical seat,we stand equally to all other medical practitioners, medicos treat thousands of clients in a AC rooms by priscribing drugs which was formulated by pharma companies where as we physios treat our clients by using our physical effort,we will treat our athelet clients ih a hot sun that is physio, moreover many surgens are dooing surgeries how many of their patients are dying on the ot itself many surgical mishaps.see mam we can buy mbbs seat in any college at any cost,am not saying all r buying seats,60% of the medical seats are mannagement.u also know that,we will study every subject which u have except surgery,u can go through browsing, more than that we will learn how to asses a physical problem of a client more than u.many to say about to clear ur doubt.

MCI is the the general body appointed by the government of India according to MCI act. MCI governs this system of medicine. MBBS doctors and physiotherapists are like is comparing an elephant with an ant. I know so many physiotherapists, they are my friends and nobody among them says that they are doctors. I am not discouraging physiotherapists as they form important part as nurses and other staff of the hospital do. My dear therapists there should be no fight in following the orders of the physician. Look in other countries like USA, England or Australia, are physiotherapists regarded as doctors. Modern medicine has gone through lot of researches and established itself. If I am not wrong many of the so called physical modalities like UST have been found useless in so many studies world wide.
I work closely with physiotherapists in the hospital I work but nobody among them is raising these nonsense issues of being called as doctors. If this happens then nurses have utmost right to be called as doctors because they know much more than you and can sometimes the life which you people cannot. Mobilization and ROM exercises are not the world. World is beyond it and medicine is so far that catching it very difficult. No paramedics in the world is raising the issue of being called doctors then my dear therapists why you....think and ponder.

My experience tells me that if physiotherapists will be called doctors and will not follow the orders of the doctors they will doom themselves. It will be like throwing an axe on itself. If separate council is formed and your form of medicine is separate, then my dear friends you dont know what will happen. In only few years people will realise the core knowledge of medicine possessed by you and will not seek any treatment from you. I have discussed this topic at lenght with one of the physiotherapists and what i got to know is that reading few topics from general medicine or orthopedics or other branches of medicine will not make you a doctor. MBBS even after 5 and half years of hard training are not fully able to treat patients. Medicine is an art, treating the ailments, supporting care and nursing.
There should be no disregard among the people working for the health of the patient may it be a doctor, nurses, technicians, therapists. If you fight it will only dampen patient health and all will be in loss.

well i am a physio.. And being called a doctor or not doesnt matter to me.. Because whatsoever my work will remain the same and my patients will be loyal to me. That is enough for us physios. I think the mbbs 'doctors' need to grow up and mind their own business instead of displaying their jealousy outwardly by speaking all this nonsense stuff. Dear so called doctors try to improve your own standards rather than being green eyed monsters. OR I PROMISE YOU WE PHYSIOS WILL THROW YOU OUT OF THE SCENARIO IN FIFTEEN YEARS. Thats a promise and we will keep it. You busily sneer at others.
