Yeah, the bill initially was much more broad and when it was pointed out that people could refuse services based on race and sexual orientation, the scope was narrowed to gender. The stats above referenced by WomenViolence, or whatever, had no citing for the silly numbers quoted. People here, have problems with this bill, but our government is widely known for how much they disregard the people they represent.

Well we will see if this will pass a Constitutional muster. I have a feeling that this law will get shot down rather quickly.. Though I think that is what the religious right.. Just guessing here.. and the republican party is hoping so that they have something to point to in 2010 and maybe in 2012.

Gods knows that the republican party doesn't have much to go on these days.

The republicans won't need much in 2010 after Obama and the democrats completely kill the american economy and pass amnesty and tax people's healthcare.
A dead cat will get more votes than a democrat candidate.

Well lets see.. The economy is starting to turn around.. It slow and bumpy, but it getting there.. Or do you not pay attention to the market.

yes the unemployment is still high.. I did mention bumpy and slow..
The war in Iraq is coming to an thankful end. Yes fighting is still happening. But at least it is more of the Iraq army doing the fighting these days..

Health care is still be debated.. Well the fed screw it up?

Most likely, but it is coming so I guess we can all look forward to a time when the private health care and the pharmaceutical companies will have to clean up their act. If nothing else that is a plus.

What has the republican offered? Nothing but either the same crap they have been pushing for the past 20 years. packaged differently does not make it unique.

Or have provided comedy relief. Soon to be former Gov. Palin comes to mind. That fool Governor in S. Carolina that ran off to S. America with his mistress.

Yep the republican party is going to sweep back in real soon.. I guess one can hope for a miracle.

But personally I think Deity(s) can not help the republicans at this point.

>Also omitted: A April 2009 nationwide poll has found that 87 percent of adults believe healthcare professionals should not be forced to participate in procedures to which they have moral objections.

Good, then maybe health professionals can likewise refuse on moral grounds to care for talibangelical xstains who are intent on having those insane posses of Quiver offspring.
