Pedophile party starts in Netherlands

A new political party in the Netherlands is dedicated to legalizing sex between adults and children.

Why would you allow grown mature people to have sex with little immature kids for? Kids that age are not ready for sex. This political party is a sick twisted thing. It makes me sick to my stomache to know that there are people who would do this to little kids. I hope you fail at doing this and go to jail which is where anyone who does this belong!

I am a Dutch citizen. And this new pedophile political party will not gain a seat in Dutch parliament. Fortunately, most people in Holland are against these lunatics. if you would read their programme you don't know whether to laugh or to cry. I mean, if a stand up comedian would come up with things like:"When you are 16 years old you may play in a porn movie", or"a new subject to be taught in Dutch schools: sexual development", one could laugh about it.

I completely agree with you. I'm Dutch as well, and everyone I have spoken to is disgusted by these people. They believe children are able to decide if they want to have sex... Childporn should be legal, and the same thing goes for sex with animals. It's disgusting! When I first read about it in the paper, I seriously thought it was a joke. And trust me: this is not a part of our culture. I have actually heard a few people say that if this party WILL get enough votes, they will move away. We can only hope no-one will vote for these people...

As in many other blogs/comments I notice a distortion of the facts.
First of all, I agree with the general opnion that this is happening. I think pedophiles are sick and should be treated. Also the sentence for someone who actually abuses a child can't be harsh enough, in my opinion.
Anyway. In most posts I see about this topic, it is said that the judge 'legalised' the formation of this party. It's a bit different. The judge has no way to forbid the formation of this party according to Dutch law. At this moment they are just people who publicly declare the fact that they want to change the law to fulfill their desire to have a 'relationship' with children. To achieve this, they want to form a political party.
I'm glad that we still live in a country where you can say such things even though I'm not happy with the fact that somebody says this. Now it's up to the Dutch people to make sure they NEVER achieve a status in which they receive the power to do the things they want.
Also, consider this.... What if in your country happened the same?
This one's for all Americans out there, since freedom of speech is also dear to you.
What if this happened in your country? Your laws also give a person the freedom to express these kind of ideas. Remember, as long as they don't act on their desire they are not conflicting with law. Do your laws prevent the formation of a party in which likeminded (or like-sickminded in this case) people want to express their desires and to propose changes to accomodate their needs? I think not.
As long as they don't do anything that is against the law there is nothing that can be done.

Well I hope that the Netherlands will be the only country where this ever happens and that we will be able to make sure they never are granted any power.

I believe Mr. van der Velde is correct. Like the Netherlands, in the US, with enough signatures, any political party can be formed. It's called political freedom. But that doesn't necessarily mean a)they'll get enough signatures, or b)getting enough signatures they will ever get anyone in a political office.

Pedophiles trying to get the right to engage in sex with children is not limited to the Netherlands. There is an organization in the US (I forget the name and acronym) that has been attempting to do the same thing for years. The majority of the people find their philosophy very warped, so naturally they haven't gotten very far. I predict the same thing will happen in the Netherlands.

Good for you. While I'm a firm believer of freedom of speech, it goes both ways and people have the right to speak out against the belief of others.

I have visited the Netherlands five times in the last six years. I have found the Dutch (at least the ones I've talked to) to possess a great deal of common sense. In my opinion it's what allows them to tolorate different lifestyles but at the same time knowing where to draw the line.

According to the article, the Pedofile party has 100 signatures. It doesn't look like they'll be running the country any time soon.
