I don't understand why people collect stuff for other countries. We have our own poor people here that could use your help. Do you see any of those countries helping out our people??? Dont think so! Seems like someone is always wanting some kind of donation or something to help out other countries. For pete sake, help out your own people!

I guess saying that they are all our people wouldn't make sense to you. Does it really matter that much who people help as long as they are trying to make a difference.
That soap would probably end up in the garbage anyway so why not do something positive with it. Do you have any idea how thankful those Nicaraguan (or other) people will be? On the other hand, if you give a bar of soap to some homeless person in America and they are likely to spit on you because they will take it as an insult.
The reason you don't understand "why" is likely to be that you don't actually care nor have you seen the conditions in those countries with your own eyes. Does it matter who they help? Really?

Well Boo Hoo for those people! We have Kids in the US that dont have soap or food as a matter of fact. I care about our own Country more than Nicaragua and so should you. We have kids and adults here that are starving and need the help thats being given to these other countries. No i dont like seeing or hearing about ANYBODY starving or needing necessities, especially kids. Did any of those countries help out our people when we have had disasters? Don't think so! If they want our help they should return the favor once in a while.....

Did any of those countries help out our people when we have had disasters? Starving people can't eat soap. I don't see homeless people in the US begging for soap. Second, those poor countries that don't come to our aid don't have a choice. They don't have the power or resources to aid anyone, not even their own people. The USA is the leading economic power in the world as well as the military power so why should we not also be the moral power and show some generosity. When it's all said and done we don't own the world but we treat it like our personal dumping ground and our warehouse of raw goods. Why not give just a little back, especially when it's something so unimportant to us as hotel soap. I see homeless people every day here.... how often do you see them?

Yayyyyy for Krinkle! You should run for President cause you are sooooo smart. I live ina very small town and dont see very many homeless but dam sure if i did i would give them food, SOAP, or clothes or something else they might need. Ive helped with food pantries and given clothes to my own town for people in need. What the hell have you done for anyone??? And no dumbass I'm pretty positive they dont eat soap but hey if they get hungry enough they might. Frankly i dont see anybody begging for soap so if your gonna try and make a difference do with something other than soap and help your own country. Just how many homeless people or less fortunate kids have you helped that you saw on the street everyday as you say???

Oh and why would those poor countries want to do anything for themselves when we do everything for them. Have you actually seen those conditions over there with your own eyes Krinkle or just the commercials they want you to see on tv?? I highly doubt if you've been to any of those countries!

Just how many homeless people or less fortunate kids have you helped that you saw on the street everyday as you say??? I gave the homeless teens in my neighborhood some cigarettes. I bought one guy a sandwich and a beer. I gave a grandma a couple bucks and talked to her for about 10 minutes. I give them my clothes that I don't like. I've done food drives before, it's easy to leave food in a bag at your door. I've volunteered too. I've had children come to me and beg me for a bic pen on multiple occasions. Right now i'm a bit busy, but i'm going to volunteer at a orphanage for crippled children. That's what I do. You don't have to make excuses; there are many poor people around Anna that could use the help, but they have enough soap and soup. Help those who don't.

Have you actually seen those conditions over there with your own eyes Krinkle or just the commercials they want you to see on tv?? I highly doubt if you've been to any of those countries! I was in Palmira last September and the children in the surrounding villages begged me for the remainder of my orange soda, so I bought them one of their own. They fought over it. I gave them a bag of chips too. They pretended to sword fight with me with the pens I gave them. They probably didn't live in the street but they were dirty, smelly and hungry enough to fool me. In Tirana the children orphaned and wounded by the recent ethnic wars are in the street and they beg all day. They get spit on and kicked and neglected. I gave one kid a couple bucks worth of lira and he cried. Outside of Abu Simble, I spent the evening with a felucca captain family. They gave me tea with sugar in it. I felt bad because I used their sugar. They considered me to be a special guest so it was a unique offer and made them proud to give their guests sugar. The kids hadn't seen a digital camera before. They lived in one mud-brick room. The bed didn't have a mattress, there was no chair, or fridge, or fan, or table, or any comfort the American poor take for granted. Yes, actually, I have seen those conditions with my own eyes. I don't need a TV to see children begging for food. I am "over there". The reason you talk the way you do is because You haven't seen it with your own eyes. You haven't opened your eyes, nor turned a page, or taken a step. I would prefer if you didn't leave America, you'd be a bad ambassador.
