Failed with the Canucks.

Didn't even interview ex-CBJ'ers.

Howson's just a quieter MacLean. He's still arrogant, pompous, knows it all, doesn't need or want advice, got no use for tradition or fan sentiments.

When is McConnell going to get rid of him and Priest?

I get the impression this two season losing goaltender is still untouchable.

Whatever,

he didn't fail with the Canucks. Vancouver wanted to keep him but he left for family reasons. Luongo really liked him. And who cares if he didn't interview ex-CBJers. Clark has a better resume anyways.

i am proud of this choice for columbus. i feel like this is a huge impact on still developing mason and helps also with scouting on opponents tenders. I am excited to see what this person has. and to say to the people this person is a joke, R u kidding me?? Look at who this person has worked with Roberto Luongo, Cam Ward, Marc-Andre Fleury, Cory Schneider, Andrew Raycroft, Johan Hedberg and those people are amazingly good goalies.i dont know why your saying that.. must be you dont know nothing about hockey.. I am excited with this choice, and will be interesting to see who the jackets hire as an assistant coach, draft, and free agency. And first of all, McConnell has no insight. Howson is a good gm, maybe not from everyones opinion, but he was gm of edmonton when they maid it to finals in 06 vs carolina and he's doing to the best of his ability. Even though it may not show that columbus is not a good team from peoples opinion, look at their prospects!! there is a bright future here and will be detailing of who sticks out in prospect camp.

As I posed in Arace's Column: Why do the CBJ need to be a charity for their former players?

Howson hired someone that has prior goaltending coaching experience in the NHL, I'm not pulling my hair out of it. Good Hire.

Not just prior goalie coach experience, but coach who worked with Luongo since his days as a Panther. I know there was a lot of talk of reshaping Mase in this article but could this be a precursor to making a move for Cory Schneider?

Just me nitpicking, but Howson was not GM of Edmonton ever. He was an assistant. Big difference.

Is this supposed to be good news since Howson couldn't convince Philly to take Mason?
The CBJ now have a goalie coach, now they just need a goalie with an ounce of talent. Anyone with a clue, can see Mason is finished in the NHL. I hope this is just a way to get some good goalies to sign with Columbus.

In other words, WELCOME TO ANOTHER LOSING SEASON WITH MASON AS GOALIE!
