The Panthers have been pushed around for years, they finally get a tough guy and they don't play him...but complain he doesn't fight anyone. What's get supposed to do drag them over the boards into the bench as they skate by...Okay, I've actually done that but I played on a pickup beer league not the NHL. Belak is a very well liked player and trading him for a 4th line center at best is insane...the whole team with 4-5 exceptions is 4th line at best. JM is a total incompetent jerk and Cohen is even worse because he promoted a bad coach into being an extraordinarily bad GM.

Well now, Nasty Nick is on his way to Florida. I do think that is an upgrade from Belak. I hope he can start contributing right away, this team needs something new. He certainly isn't the answer, but maybe he can help. I look forward to seeing him in a Panthers uniform. I am curious as to what line DeBoer will put him on.

This is the best day in Belak's career. He is out of here!!!! He is leaving the WORST PROFESSIONAL SPORTS FRANCHISE IN SPORTS.

Wade, enjoy playing for an NHL team again.

seriously, has anyone performed so badly at their job, for so long, without consequence, as jacques martin? does alan cohen even know what is going on here? i can not believe that they think for one stinking second that the team they have assembled can compete. i ask myself constantly "what kind of devious plan are they cooking up? when will we see the results of their dastardly deeds?" then i snap back to reality and remember that martin and cohen just have absolutely no idea what they are doing. the hockey expert on espn called the florida panthers "a trainwreck" the other day.

Louie,
Thanks for your answer yesterday re:
How long will you support Panthers LLC?

As for your answer of "forever", comparing your indefinate support to the same support you'd give "your sick mother, a difficult child, or getting beat up by the school bully".

Wow, it's a sports team, not family.

It is a private, for-profit endeavor.

Your enthusiasm is kind of sweet and innocent, however ignorant.

My contention is the Panthers have NOT tried to be a winner, have NOT been unlucky.

This IS Alan Cohen's deliberate business plan.

My contention is, given another, say 5-8 years of salary-dumping, all-star trade-aways, minor league coaches, and 25th place overall finishes,
you too, will begin to resent it.

But by that time, there will be another 2000 or so suckers who never heard of Brian Skrudland.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well with the stats he brings, I hope he's working the beer line. I stood there for 10 minutes the other night while while all the "It's my first Hockey game" fans had to stand and read the menu at the concession stand. On top of it, my throat hurts from booing all night.

Wade Belak was back on the ice for the Panthers on Wednesday night, two days after clearing waivers.

His return was short lived.

The Panthers sent Belak to Nashville on Thursday afternoon, bringing back center Nick Tarnasky. Belak is traveling to Atlanta to join his new teammates in time for their game against the Thrashers on Friday night. Tarnasky is expected to play with the Panthers Friday as well.

''I was stunned by the trade,'' Belak said Thursday night.``It's nice to be wanted, especially after what transpired after last weekend. It was tough to come back knowing there was an issue there. To be traded was very surprising.''

Belak, 32, signed a two-year deal with the Panthers during the offseason and makes $650,000 per year. The 24-year-old Tarnasky is also signed through the 2009-10 season, but the Panthers will see a slight savings as Tarnasky makes $525,000.

Florida has been looking for a center the past few weeks and Tarnasky could help. Tarnasky was acquired by the Predators earlier this season in a trade with Tampa Bay, Nashville sending a conditional draft pick to the Lightning.

In two-plus seasons with the Lightning, Tarnasky scored 11 goals with nine assists. He has no goals and one assist for the Predators in 11 games this season.

''He's a guy who brings more speed, something we're trying to improve on this team,'' general manager Jacques Martin said.``He's a role player, but he can get there quicker, use his speed and use his body to his advantage. He can drive to the net, play a simple game. He's going to help Pete [DeBoer] play four lines. He can be part of a momentum line.''

HA!!! Tarnasky was the missing piece.. what we've all been waiting for. A minus player who takes bad penalties. The panthers are a bad joke with no punch line. Martin's a moron. DeBoer's in over his head, and the only, and I mean ONLY player the panthers have is David Booth. He's the only guy who shows up. Period. This is really the absolute worst season in panther's history. Their 60 point season was pathetic, but it didn't happen after 4 years of top draft pics... I am proud of one thing.. so far this year the franchise has gotten $0, from me... I suggest you do the same.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Capricorn

A certain person is strong-willed with the Full Moon in your emotional house of others. It's a lunar eclipse too, so this could lead to some ructions in which everyone becomes firmly entrenched in their own opinions and refuses to acknowledge anyone else's point of view. Get the arguments out of the way early on, so you can then concentrate on having a really enjoyable New Year's Eve.
