who cares? the islanders haven't been good since 1983.

this is a rangers town...always has and always will be. people did not care when the islanders were winning because the islanders have no fans.

i cant wait until tavares is a bust or pulls a lindros

You got that right brother. The Islanders are the Detroit Lions of the NFL except people care enough about the Lions to make fun of them. Making fun of the Islanders is like shooting fish in a barrel - retarded fish that is....let'em move to KC, Toledo or Chernobyl for all anybody outide 516 cares.

Yea ok big brother! LOL HAHA! you guys are real BIG! ONE! THATS RIGHT ONE F7cking CUp since World War II for your pathetic organization. Sure the ranger$ will always have more fans because they are an original 6 team, but whos franchise has been more impressive since 1972? And thats saying a lot that the islanders franchise has been in shambles at times since 1994. So as much as you want to laugh at the islanders, stop thinking the ranger$ are the Yankees. They have no mystique, they have no aura about them. All they have going for them is that they play in nyc and at msg. THATS IT! This article is about a DYNASTY. The ranger$ never came close to having one and will never come close to having one. Besides Brian Leetch who is a ranger great that started there career as a ranger and had a long career there?? You guys look up people Like Messier who won 5 cups as an Oiler. Messier is an Edmonton Oiler not a ranger! THe isladners have pleanty of fans by the way but they have been a$$ raped by management over 15 years so what do you expect a 90% renewal among season ticket holders?? Tavares becoming a bust? You havent even seen him play, thats real nice wishful thinking. The gloomy days are over ranger$ fans, Here comes the New ERA of Islanders hockey. Keep holding onto that one championchip in 1994 that the ranger$ just barely barely won! Keep thinking those fans in the 100's aren't corporate either.

Some of Ranger fans are not Hockey fans, I guess. They are just NY Rangers fans in whatever league. It's so unfortunate we have to share the pages with a pathetic people like them.

4therecord is ABSOLUTELY right. the rangers have 1 cup in nearly 70 years of play. they have one of the highest payrolls in the league and they have some of the games top players but for some reason when they put that rangers sweater on they begin playing like chumps.

i guess when you only go after guys on the tail ends of their careers it can de-rail your winning strategy.

lets not forget the rangers missed the playoffs 7 straight seasons as well, and EIGHT straight if you include the lockout.

so dont go telling me who cares and who doesn't care you gotta learn your HISTORY kid.

Poor Raggies, they are still so jealous of New York's only hockey dynasty.

All they have are corporate Knick fans and announced sellouts unless Islander fans are at the Garden cherring for the real NY team.

New York is home of the greatest American Hockey Dynasty in NHL history and that's the New York Islanders.

Go do some Potvin chants, jealous Rags. No Rag is worth anyone wasting their time over.

Rumor has it you backed into another playoff, too bad everyone watched baseball in this town.

About the hockey team..if the Islanders of 80-83 were the Maple Leafs or Canadiens, they would be considered the greatest team of all time.

Of the 4 cups they won, twice they had the best regular season record and 2 they swept.

Only team in NHL history to win nineteen playoff series in a row, last team in any sport to win four straight.

Barbara Barker is clueless comparing them to the one-cup Wings who spent 80m a year on payroll and writing those New York Islander teams were gritty.

They beat any team any way they wanted to play. The best ever and New York (not just LI) loved that team and the sport was never more popular in New York.

After this garbage what's next from Cablevision-Dolan-owned Newsday.

This is Ranger's town? Are you kidding me?

A sad sack hockey franchise that finds new ways to fail.

That describes both the Islanders and the Rangers, but at least the Islanders became a dynasty. The Rangers, around forever, have not put together 4 decent years in a row, let alone 4 straight cups and five straight finals appearances.

The only sports fan more odious than a Ranger fan is a Yankee fan, but at least the Yankees, like the Islanders, have some history at winning championships.

If the Islanders move, the chances of NY hosting a Stanley Cup final becomes very remote, based on past history of the pathetic Rangers.

When Tavares turns out to be a star and they start winning i'm sure you'll be pulling out your Islander jersey and saying you where a fan all along like the rest of you so called ranger fans.

Correction! The 19 consecutive playoff round wins is not only hockey's best, this is the best record in all of pro sports team history beating out the Celtics record of 18. This record will most likely never be approached considering free agency and salary caps. That Isles team was the greatest team of any sport that I have ever seen. As a previous post stated, that team could play the game any way it wanted and still find a way to beat you. I feel very lucky to have been old enough to get to see and appreciate that team, and very sorry for any Isles fans that only got to read or hear about that team. 1975-1985 was a great decade to be an Isle's fan. I hope that I can live long enough to be able to see another Cup team on LI.

A quarter century since relevance.....a quarter fre@kin century. It's not even fun to rip this franchise anymore it is such a joke. The circus in the front office, the perennial losing, the ownership soap opera. Run Tavares, don't walk, RUN away!

BTW, have you guys converted your Islanders highlights from Betamax to DVD yet?

The Islanders were the worst team in the NHL last year. That Okposo is a stinkeroo! But wait, Ricky D will be back next year. Ho Ho Ho. The Wrecker needs a new hairdo. And he doesn't wreck, but they sure wreck him when he tries to mix it up. What a team. wow. So remember the past, because the present and the future for these fishmen is horrendous. Thank you.

Proud franchise? Mike Bossy is making personal phonecalls to season ticket holers, begging them, to buy season tickets. You would never see any franchise be sooo desperate to use thier greatest player, to do such a pathetic act.. At least Nystrom thrives as a used car salesmen. I have no issuses admitting the isles were one of the greatest sports dynasties. Its going to take more than Taveras( thats gonna be thier pick) to make this a winning team. One last thing, Wang is a businessman. If a new coliseum isnt built and/or fans dont show up, say hello to the KC isles. Be careful what you ask for. The isles couldn't win in a levittown sump.

Yeah and the Cubs were great in the 1908 World Series too.
