Wow...the Jackets biggest need for seasons has been a top Center and an offensive defensive who can run the powerplay. Yet despite all of the defensemen and centers on the list (not to mention that have already been traded), the only player that you list the Jackets as having an interest in is winger.

A lot of teams above us have improved their clubs while GMSH has been locked in his room! If this club stands pat and looses out on the playoffs what will that tell the season ticket holders? This grid lock Howsom finds himself in will kill this club for years to come.

Nobody wants the aforementioned roster upgrades more than me, but you can't get something for nothing. To get value, the Jackets are going to have to part with value. Anyone interested in trading Nash, Umby, Brassard, Johansen or Moore? If not, then what value would a potential trading partner hope to gain?

I suppose a Mason/Voracek package, with a Savard or draft pick or other prospect thrown in, might yield something in return. But a top-shelf difference maker? I don't think so. In that case, I'd err on the side of hanging onto the youngsters with significant potential upside.

I agree with Bob Hunter's recent article - no deal is better than a bad deal.

Who are you talking to? Toronto is quite deep in goaltending prospects - they need a good center and an offensive Dman...Vermette might be a fit. Maybe Hejda too but not Mason. Ottawa needs Mason - but Howson already picked their pocket. Leafs have picks to move and Jackets need depth.

I'm not even looking for a game changer until the offseason. The fans deserve a push to make it. Give us a serviceable dman that gives Stralman, Russel, or Klesla a night in the press box (depending on who deserves it). That shouldn't cost a roster player. Just a 2nd or 3rd rounder plus the added salary. That's not too much to ask.

Sounds like Priest should give GMSH the Last Rites. Our cupboard is bare and we have no seeds to plant.
