Sproles helping Saints Offense reach new heights in NFL

Darren Sproles says he never expected to be such a central figure on an offense that could go down as the most prolific in Saints history.

New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles (43) moves up field against the Houston Texans during the first half of an NFL football game, in New Orleans.

With the Saints on pace to set a single-season franchise record for yards from scrimmage, Drew Brees figures the addition of versatile New Orleans Saints running back Sproles is a considerable factor in the increased production of an already prolific offense.

Sproles leads the Saints in rushing with 348 yards on 51 carries, and average of 6.8 yards per carry. His longest run from scrimmage has been 35 yards and he has two touchdowns rushing. Sproles' 60 receptions rank second on the club behind only tight end Jimmy Graham's 62. Sproles has 448 yards and three TDs receiving.

His rushing total is already a single-season high in his seven-year career, and he needs only 73 more yards receiving in the next six games to set a new season-high in that category.

Drew Brees says he can't name a better free-agent pickup in the N FL this year than the speedy, versatile, 5-foot-6 running back. Sproles is among the New Orleans Saints ' leading rushers and receivers, not to mention their best return man.

Bears miss on Kyle Orton, sign veteranQB Josh McCown
Chicago Bears announced yesterday the signing of veteran quarterback Josh McCown after failing to get waived Denver Broncos quarterback and ex-Bear Kyle Orton who was picked up by Kansas City Chiefs.

McCown was happy to get a chance to come back to the National Football League and believes he is ready to make an impact and help out in Bears playoff quest saying

Their first choice was Broncos Kyle Orton who had been waived from the roster just a few days ago but was picked up by Kansas City Chiefs who had a higher waiver priority.

TheChicago Bears expect to add Orton, who had a 21-12 record as a starter for them from 2005 through 2008. In fact, Orton began engineering his exit from Denver with a hope of returning to Chicago. Instead after Jay Cutlersuffered a broken right thumb in Sunday’s win over the San Diego Chargers at Soldier Field, he’ll go to Kansas City where he could step in as the starter quickly with Matt Cassel out for the remainder of the season.

Bears primary quarterback Jay Cutler had some good news for fans after successfully undergoing surgery yesterday and is looking to make a return during the playoffs. The team hopes he will return to action before the end of the regular season.
