Calgary Flames

Chicago Blackhawks look to put Flames on ice

Full story: Chicago Tribune

In a country that lives and breathes hockey, it's not surprising the local tabloid, the Calgary Sun, ran a front-page headline declaring it "Do or Die!" for the hometown Flames on Monday night.

Congratulations to the Hawks, capturing the series in a great win! I am sure old man Wirtz is rolling in his grave on how his boy destroyed what he had built lol

It's nice to see the organ-i-zation is not the worst in professional sports anymore and becoming one of the best, as it should be.

Keep it going, guys!

Bulin gets all 3 stars.

I give Burish a lot of flack because he usually deserves it but he had a great shot on his goal in the first and played a good physical game. More of this please Adam.

Lets go get Vancouver!

Good Bye Calgary and Let the rampage continue through Alberta..
The Pahlsson,Versteeg,Buff line completely dominated tonight. Buff gets huge praise for what hes done this series. He took a huge hit to make the play to Burish for his goal. Im simply amazed right now.

The TSN Canada coror commentator is positioned at ice level between the two benches. He said whe the Flame s scored their goal and started to press Pahlson took a leader ship role on the bench and relly settled the guys down with his don't panic message. His cup experiece combined with Khabbi's was priceless tonight. Like I say 4 down and 12 to go.!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure Q is sitting on the plane thinking how Buff picked a good time to listen to the coaching about playing in the hard places on the ice. Buff has been a real key to this team through the series......a real playoff performer.

Oh yeah, Q's also thinking about Vancouver and the best ways to beat them.

I'm wondering how many of the Flames trolls we'll see today. LOL

Sure was a dumb trade to pick up Sammi, wasn't it?

Tallon has done a great job in putting this very young team together.

Now, it's past time that little Canuck hair puller got her comeuppance. When it can be done w/o a penalty of course.

Congratulations to the Hawks and their fans. Its good to have both of you back. When the Hawks were the only team to take the season series from the Wings in 2008, I started telling people 'these guys are for real, dont bet against them.' Maybe now they'll start believing me. It would be great to have a Hawks-Wings Conference final ;)

Yep, can't wait to face the Canucks and Alex Burrows (said hair-puller). Should be a great series. Congrats Hawks on this big first step. Buff and Khabi came up big tonight.

Big win -- it was great to see the killer instinct closing this out in Calgary. And on a side note, after spending 6 years living in Michigan, I can't describe how great it is to have something better to do than hating on the Red Wings this time of year.

Congrats from Vancouver! We always enjoy seeing the Flames lose. Will be a great series against you guys. Flames didn't play rough enough to have a chance.

That is what I have been waiting for, a dominating road win in the playoffs. The fact that it closed out the series makes it extra special. It seems like an eternity ago since they brought Khabibulin here for this very purpose, it was worth the wait.

In 1982 I sat on the edge of my seat at the stadium for almost 6 periods as Tony Esposito battled Richard Brodeur in one of the best overtime playoff games I have ever witnessed. The Canucks got the better of the Hawks that day and went on to lose to the Islanders in the Cup. I would say its time for PAYBACK!

I wouldn't call it a dominating road win (unless we are speaking of goaltending), but like Toews said, they did what they had to to get the job done. H*LL YES! Awesome!

Can't believe we already have Canuck fans on here! It'll be interesting to see if they remain so civil once the series begins!

Khabibulin - Unbelieveable!

Big Buff to Burish - Sweet! Cleary Byfuglien got the attention of the Flames, with all 5 guys on the ice staring at him, while Burish slid in undetected.

Last shift by the Bolland, Ladd, Havlat line was just incredible. Killed a good 30 seconds cycling the puck and not even trying to go to the net. That was great.

Did I mention Khabibulin?

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEES!

That's it. The resurrection of the once Mighty Blackhawks is now officially complete with this first playoff series win since 1996. This is what I wanted, needed. So everthing from here on out is icing on the cake.

But I absolutely believe in this team. The sky's the limit, even this year.

What an exciting, thrilling team. Ev-er-y-one contributed in this series. Especially happy for Big Buff. He once was the biggest disappointment of the season, but became the biggest force in the clincher and the series. Happy Brian Campbell, with all the abuse he's taken on this page and others, scored a huge goal. Happy for the whole darn team.

Finally, happy for myself and for Tony, and BMF, and Tim-Hockey Rules, and Chico 17, and Paul in London, and and Thin the Herd, and Section 313, and Chicohawk and all the other rabid fans of the Chicago Blackhawks. WE DESERVE THIS!

Now let's keep it going!

Let's Go Hawks!

The team played hard from whistle to whistle. Khabi was huge, again. Great to see Burish get rewarded for his all out hustle the entire series. Let's grab the first one in Vancouver.

Everyone knew that the Flames were going to come out full force. Khabi needed to be excellent in net and he was.
The Hawks kept their game simple and were rewarded for it. It was a good disciplined game.
Big Buff was huge in this series. He is so strong with the puck.
I am pretty speechless right now. I think Vancouver will be a better match up for the Hawks. This next series will be a little less physical and the Hawks will definitely dominate in that department. It will also be good to see the skill and speed take over. We just have to pay attention to the Sedin twins and Luango can be solved!

Congrats Hawks fans, your team played one hell of a tough series. But that was just the warm up. You`re now facing a peaking Luongo, a D-corps that`s rested and itching for a fight, and four forward lines that are rolling. Burrows vs. Keith and Bieksa vs. Eager The Rematch....I`m pumped! Better load up on your Icy Hot Patches you`re gonna need em...GO NUCKS
