This Flames fan will disappear because he has not the guts to come back on here when the Flames are eliminated. Another typical troll. He means nothing.

A tough game, but nothing to get worried about. Losing one in Calgary is perfectly acceptable, and when you consider that two of those Calgary goals were fluky (Moss off a skate, and Borque's surprise bad angle shot) it wasn't that bad a game. Stay the course, and get back on track.
Series notes: Flames are beating up on our guys, but I love the way the young Hawks are staying focused. Seabrook is having a dominating series, and will hopefully knock Rene's block off a couple more times. Burish is going to either drive Iginla nuts or get his brains knocked out by him. A fantastic action packed and snarly series. This is as close to a Norris Division playoff game as I've seen since they dissolved the division. I feel like I should be showing up at Krause's Gaslight Lounge in Oak Lawn two hours early so we can hold a table to watch the game on satellite... |

The Flames offensive strategy was to drive the puck in behind the icing line and move in to either get control or pin the defenders in with the forecheck and the executed to their advantage. Toews wasn't as dominent on faceoffs as he was in games 1 and 2. The TSN commentators love Seabrook( rightly so) and consider him our best d-man and his play last night showed that assessment is bang on. Still am very impressed with Buff's play in this series, the entire forth line and role players have been earning their keep so far. They won't back down and are showing real gutsy play. I share the disappointment with Campbell so far in this series. He isn't doing what we broght him here to do either offensivly or defensively. Too many bailouts too often forced back into his own end. His job is to move the puck and he ain't doing it. Kiprosov played well last night but 2 posts and a crossbar helped. As far as the Flames are concerned the MVP last night was "Iron Mike Keenan". He had his guys playing tough but not reckless. I would love to have a tape of what happened in the Flames room between periods 1 and 2. I would love to have heard the awareness session he had with Jokinen between periods. The guy was a sleeper and a bum for 2 games plus one period but came out a new man for periods 2 and 3. Jokenen was their MVP on the ice last night. WE have got to keep riding Iginla. TSN has a live commentator between the benches and Pierre McQuire said the verbal abuse the Hawks were putting on Iginla was inhuman. Igenla lost his coolnear the end of the game. He is atough nut to fight against but if we can put him off his game and in the box for 5 or 10 minutes it is worth the beating some poor victim will have to take. Nobody expected the series to be over in 4 games. It may go seven and it is great playoff hockey. Get off the referees backs they are letting most chest and shoulder to shoulder stuff go. As fo the high sticks we got away with a couple as well so it isn't one sided. |

I don't like the guy either but he is doing what he has to do. Get under people's skin, draw attention to himself and open up opportunites for his team. We have our agitators as well. Just ask Iginla. Lets face it if you want to win the cup you have to be prepared to throw your mother under the bus and be ready and willing to be an axe murderer. That is how playoff hockey goes in the NHL. Take a dirty hit, check out the number and wait for the world to take a turn or two then you clobber the guy. Annoy the other teams stars, agitate until someone does something dumb and takes a bad penalty. Do this and you opponents hate you eg. Bourque and you coach will love you. |

Chico, have played hockey since I was 5 yrs old and am now 40. Not that I need to qualify anything to you.Ive laced up skates more times than you im sure, so dont give me that crap ok?? dont like what ive written, dont read it. |

I question his heart because of the way he plays, which is soft. How many goals you think he's going to score in the playoffs standing where he does 90 % of the time?? look at whose is scoring goals for the Kawks and where on the ice they are scoring them from. Toews, Sharp, Havlat, all in FRONT of the net where you have to get a little dirty. The next time Kane sees the front of the net will be his first time in this series |

It's sad to think that a player of Iginla's caliber has to be "unleashed" by a fourth liner at the end of game three of the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. You would think as team captain, he would have been ready to go when the puck dropped on the frist night. Says a lot about a captain. |

Tim I live 2 hours from Detroit and 1 and a half hours from Toronto I lived in Ottawa for 18 years. There are 6 NHL teams in Canada but I am a Hawks fan.Geography says I shouldn't be but here I am.Go figure. Paul |

Bear with me guys for my last comment (for tonight). I saw Kane play his junior up here.He was even smaller then than he is now but the guy had no fear going into places where he was going to be met by a 6'4" 230lb. defenceman that wanted to crush him.It is wrong to question his courage. If you think he had an easy time up here you don't know how hard it is to play in the OHL. Every kid on every team has dreams of playing in the NHL and every game is a war.

I agree with your post 1,000%. Campbell looks very ordinary out there. Not worth all the $$ they spent on him. Hjmarrelson(sp?) looks "afraid". The Hawks HAVE TO improve their PP. the "Only" way you stop the chippiness(besides a bunch of fights, is to make them pay for being short-handed. Ray Bourque deserved that 2-hander from Burrish. he had 3 "slashing" penalties, coupled that with the 2-handers from Flames player after every whistle in the offense zone and 1- of these games is gonna get out of control. Hawks are gonna have to rachet up their game a bit. Hawks STILL win this series... |

You must be smoking some bad stuff if you really believe what you wrote. The Hawks are the better team, and have been all year. That is why the Hawks had the 4th seed and more points during the regular season. So I hope you enjoyed winning the one game. |

Detroit has to be the toughest place to play in the playoffs. Then the Shark tank, of course the Habs, and Boston. Sure Calgary is in the top 10 but if you really listened to the noise at the Flames last night the sounds were the same over and over. Where as in the UC it was alot of crazy fans making a ton of noise cheering for their team. Hawks will win the series. |

It's about time someone picked up on this IHC, good job.
It has been frustrating watching Iggy as he hasn't been playing his best game. Despite this he's still one of the most effective player on the ice even though he's not lighing the lamp as much. But anyone who has put on skates knows it is impossible to play your VERY best every night (different than giving your best effort despite getting hacked, whacked, and jeered at every step of the way). Now that Burish has truly pissed him off, we get to enjoy watching that. Well, I get to enjoy it anyway. Happy times for Flames fans just ahead folks!
|

I am not sure which series you are watching, but the Hawks have been outplaying the Flames, with the exception of the first period in game 1 and game 2. There have been bad goals in both ends of the ice. I can easily say the Flames won game three because of three soft goals Khabbi let in, but that is playoff hockey. It seems like the junk goals are the ones that get through. So try again! |

NHL playoffs are the best playoffs of any sport in the world. No other sport can match the intensity that comes with the playoffs game after game. Just look at what it does to the fans! Love it!
